What other notable QBs CAN run but downright refuse to?

Obviously there are the slow ones who can’t, but Nuss’s 40 is listed at 4.8, same as Burrow’s, and Burrow was absolutely deadly with his legs. Nussmeier passes up multiple opportunities per game where it looks like he could walk backwards to move the chains. And he has to see these opportunities. He just refuses to take them. It is infuriating.
Is it like the yips or something?

Perhaps the coaches don’t want Nuss running. Have you considered this? We don’t have anyone behind him capable of starting. If he gets injured scrambling against Tech, then LSU’s season is done.

He wasn't going to run vs LA Tech. He will need to a couple times vs Florida.
I am withholding my disdain for him not running when he has the opportunity to until after Florida. I get trying to avoid injury, but he should be able to do what he did that one time vs Clemson where he ran for like 9 yards then hit the deck when he saw the bad guys coming.

I don't think he refuses to, he's just in the habit of not considering that option. QBs have to analyze a massive amount of information in just a few seconds. It can be difficult to adjust a long standing mindset.

I don't think he sees them. I think he is a good QB but under pressure he gets a bit of tunnel vision and loses the wide angle of the field. This is why its going to be so hard to be great this year. His ability to see the field is hindered by an O line that is not giving him any time. I hope we can figure this out.

So should all college teams without a serviceable QB2 tell their QB1 to never run even if there’s no defender in the same time zone?
Give me a break. When they face legitimate defenses his refusal to run is going to kill drives over and over again, at which point LSU is done anyway.

Not really.
He refuses to take those opportunities. He sees them. How do I know this? Because everyone else does. He’s the QB.
They’re playing it safe so that we don’t tank our season meanwhile he’s going to lose us 3+ games if he keeps killing drives because of his refusal to run for a few yards every now and then.

What world do we live in where we refuse to take 10 yards and slide? You think 2019 asked Joe Burrow to not run for fear of injury?

I understand trying to prevent injury, but that's a bad way to run an offense. You also have to be aggressive and try to maximize the offense's production, and QB scrambling can be very effective.
It's a balancing act, but it's also football. I understand not wanting Nuss to run 15 times a game, but as long as Nuss knows how to slide, he should run when necessary.

Overreaction in my opinion. He ran when he needed to against Clemson. I'm sure they told him that under no circumstances will he run against Tech.

This is such bullshite and false. Kelly even got on his arse for the one he forced in the back the endzone instead of taking the 30 yds that was open in front of him.
Honestly if Kelly would be dumb enough to tell him this then he should be fired immediately, you dont purposely take away positive yards period

OK, i like Nuss, but that doesn't mean i think he is great at everything.
He is not a good runner.
In fact, he looks awkward , unsure and clumsy when he runs.
He is easily in the bottom quartile of QB runners, IMO.

Yes. Why take the chance on a fluke injury? Also, that running play takes away a chance for Nuss to try and work on throwing behind the new (and now revamped with Chester) OL.
He ran when he had to against Clemson. I believe he'll run again in games where he has to - and when it counts.
But against Tech? Nope.

Watch the Clemson game. Stop worrying about the LA Tech game in terms of him running. You are not going to run the QB against LA Tech and risk injury. If he has ample opportunities to run against Florida and doesn't then we can revisit this. But from what I saw against Clemson I don't believe he is refusing to run. If there are run lanes against Florida and no one open downfield, watch him take off to keep the chains moving.

Who’s asking him to “scramble”? There are plenty of times he has open field to at least get a few yards.

this is the correct answer, his issue at the position, is he hyper focuses on one thing/route at a time and never really sees the whole field, including when there's 10 yards of open space right in front of him
the narrative about the coaches telling him not to run or being scared of getting hurt is plain dumb
