Good.
It needed to be.
Try to hire the best people. Give people the feedback they need to improve. People need to commit to constant improvement. Those that fail to adapt to changes as the business adapts to a changing world, can go find a job better suited to their skills.

Did she put a stained glass sticker on her sunroof?
Also I only watched 10 seconds
What is she complaining about?

I know I'm a cynical a-hole but she's speaking for her husband. Something else happened. Any large company HR would see this model employee and keep them around or move them to another department.

The primary job of the HR department nowadays is to prevent the company from being sued when someone is let go. That's it.
All about reducing the liability to the company and nothing else.

I understood this 25 years ago, when my whole department was sold to a contractor and my employer changed overnight. Same desk, same pay, different name at the tops of the pay stubs.
And understood it again 3 years later when I worked with a contractor who hopped jobs every couple of years, and made significantly more than me. She’s 5 years younger than me.

Exactly what I was thinking. High performers get protected in RIFs, if he was a high performer and got chopped he messed something big up.

So, more lawyer shenanigans.

Companies are outsourcing entire departments. This simply is not true

Yeah, I think she may have left out an important detail there which might have changed the whole story around.

This exact scenario happened to one of my neighbors. About six months later found out from another friend he was actually fired for banging one of his direct reports. The whole other story was something he baked up to tell his wife.

The flip side of that is I have no loyalty to my employer because he has none to me. I'll go the extra mile if I perceive it benefits me. If not, I won't. If I jump to another job and leave my employer in a bind, sucks for him but its not like he wouldn't lay me off on Christmas Eve if it would make his quarterly reports look better.

One side of the story or not, the ever complicated web of contractors and sub contractors that work for big corporations and gov are a race to the bottom.
It is impossible to trace who is accountable for what, and the heads of these shite contracting companies bribe the heads of the corporations so that they keep their contracts despite how shitty the work is.
