Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. plans to announce that pregnant women’s use of an over-the-counter pain medication is potentially linked to autism in a report that will also suggest a medicine derived from folate can be used to treat symptoms of the developmental disorder in some people, people familiar with the matter said.

The report, expected this month from the Department of Health and Human Services, is likely to highlight low levels of folate, an important vitamin, and Tylenol taken during pregnancy as well as other potential causes of autism, people familiar with the matter said.

Kennedy’s department also plans to pinpoint a form of folate known as folinic acid, or leucovorin, the people said, as a way to decrease the symptoms of autism, which affected roughly one in 31 eight-year-olds in the U.S. in 2022.

Tylenol, whose active ingredient is acetaminophen, is a widely used pain reliever, including by pregnant women. Some previous studies have indicated risks to fetal development, but others have found no association. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists says it is safe to use in pregnancy, though it recommends pregnant women consult with their doctors before using it, as with all medicines.

Tylenol is made by McNeil Consumer Healthcare, a division of Kenvue, and other companies make similar acetaminophen-based products.

fascinating considering that acetemenophine is one of the most common pain relievers/fever reducers in the world.

I can't wait for nutjob RFK, Jr. to ban milk since every autistic child has drunk milk during their life...

Interesting that Acetaminophen became far more popular than aspirin in the 1980's, and it was highly marketed under the "Midol" brand for PMS. Might be something worth looking into.

He'd be more likely go after pasteurization than the milk itself since he doubts germ theory and tends to idealize the natural.

Tinfoil hat believes HHS and pharma will quietly “revamp” the suggested vax schedule for newborns.
If the vax schedule indeed caused autism and that was concealed, the lawsuits will break every entity in the medical system from pharma to the pediatricians (and it should) but we still pills for other ailments

Kenvue’s stock fell about 12% at 2:17 p.m. in New York. The shares had declined about 4% through Thursday.

Let me guess, Nancy Pelosi sold-off her shares of Kenvue a short while back?

As opposed to the healthy. A lot of natural things are unhealthy and a lot of synthetic things are healthy.

This is the saddest news. Going 9 months w/o taking anything for a headache/cold illness isn't fun at all. We were told tylenol was safe no motrin.

It’s also one of or if not the safest with very few side effects or systemic issues if you’re not in liver failure. Interesting to see the data regarding Tylenol use and pregnancy with autism.

RFK Jr. is hands down Trump's worst hire.

Trump needs to can him before he does more damage to America. No formal education in medicine, public health or sciences. WTF was Trump thinking.

Is there any actual research to prove this? Seems we would have heard something if there was an actual body of research behind such a conclusion.

If this report is true, do you honestly think they would make that claim without some sort of evidence, or at least a need to test some very specific things together? I thought you were a party of science.
