Neat I guess. But I’d rather have mandatory combative classes like Karate, boxing and other forms of martial arts for all boy students from Kindergarten all the way through HS graduation.

Good. We should be teaching firearm safety at a young age. I’d be interested in seeing if this reduces gun accidents among younger children (ex: 5-6 year old picks up unsecured firearm and injures self/someone else) down the road.

The reality is with the population moving to larger urban areas over the last 100 years, most people aren’t getting good gun education at home.

Memphis teens have plenty of experience with guns.

I'm just afraid that now instead of holding it sideways and missing, they will hold it correctly and hit.

^this. I started taking my son to the range when he was like 6 or 7. But before that, i started teaching him how to safely handle and maintain firearms. And when we went to the range, I instructed him the same way range control taught us during basic training. And it’s served him well into adulthood.

Sad but true. I had the military background and knowledge to teach my son. Most people today don’t. I hope they start a similar program here in Alabama. I’m getting close to retirement and would gladly volunteer to be an instructor at our local school.

Also good, but the issue of kids not understanding anything about firearms and even power tools today is a problem.

Simple basic safety training goes a long way into taking away the ignorant allure of it. If you handle the curiosity at an early age so kids know exactly what guns do and how to handle them correctly, this goes a log way in addressing mishaps and creating a healthy respect that combats the uncaring nature of loss of life that we see with a whole generation.

But to your point, I am in favor of boys only schools for kindergarten to 5th grade. If nothing else at least a few boys only time period in the school day where they can do boy things and not be shamed for "their lack of control"

These time periods should be instructed by men, specifically for boy needs - the rough and tumble that they are shamed for and told to stop. Boys need to be able to fall get a little banged up, brush it off and move on.
