Do you use "regular" bottled water, or do you look for distilled water?

Or, put another way, is traditional bottled water "clean enough" for a CPAP, or should I be a stickler and use only distilled water?

This geezer thanks you for any information you can share.

I’ve used a CPAP for 5 years or more, and I can honestly say I’ve never put water in the reservoir. Hasn’t affected my sleep thus far, at least not to my knowledge.

Does it make a difference?

When I sleep in hotels I just bring a few cans of keyboard cleaner and every time I wake up in the night I give a quick blast to each nostril.

I was told that regular bottled water is fine for a night or three here and there. Anything more than that and you should just stop a Walgreens and grab a bottle of distilled.

Used CPAP for 18 plus years and not a single drop of water has been used for humidifier.

If you must use water I'm pretty sure you can get by with tap or bottled water in short term. The purpose for distilled water is to protect the machine from fouling up due to mineral deposits overtime if you are in an area that has hard water.

The first five year I used distilled water, however I stopped using water for the last ten with no problems.

I use bottled water if I use water at all. I find it to be humid enough in Louisiana that I don't need the humidfier function on my CPAP. I mostly use the humidifier function when I have a cold and/or scratchy throat.
