How do normal people afford to go to these games? Was looking at some NFL games and a few college football games to possibly go to this year. For nose bleed tickets to an NFL game it’s like $500 a ticket. About the same for an SEC or B1G football game. 4 tickets, plus parking, concessions travel, fees, etc. you can easily drop $5k

Are all these people at these games really walking around with that kind of cash to blow on a football game?

Cardinals @ Saints in an NFL Season Opener at the renovated Superdome is $40 per ticket right now and might go down to $30.

Parking and F&B is really up to your comfort level. I do acknowledge parking at some locations is really tough and that can get expensive.

I am OK with eating before or after a game and just having a couple of drinks in the venue.

What specific matchups are you looking at? If it isn’t something until October/November, brokers are going to hold tight on their aspirational prices throughout September. In this economy, people aren’t tying up funds months in advance for tickets.

WTF games are you looking at? I just pulled up the Saints on StubHub and 7 out of 8 home games have tickets starting under $70

LSU has tickets for Florida, A&M, and South Carolina starting in the $150-200 range. But you can get tickets to one of the non-conference cupcakes for $20-30

ETA: LSU has free parking areas. You'll just have to walk further. Eat before the game. LSU will allow each fan to bring one unopened bottle of water with them into the stadium. Tape a flask to your thigh if you want to smuggle in some booze. If you eat before the game, park in the free lot, and bring in your own bottle of water....then you won't NEED to buy any concessions inside the stadium except maybe a snack that your kids can share.

And if you're willing to go wait outside the stadium until right around kickoff time, sellers start lowering their price to make sure they don't end up with unsold tickets.

I don't know about the NFL, but with college games, you know that the ticket prices are a result of the trickle down effect of big salaries, NIL, stadium upgrades, scoreboards, led lights...etc..

Going to a live game is fun, but it's sooooooo much better to watch at home with food you love, and drinks you love. And you don't have to fight all the on campus BS after the game to get home.

Most of this board fall in the Saints/Falcons/Texans/Panthers/Titans footprint where this definitely isn't close to true even on the secondary market

Quick glances show tickets around 100 bucks for uppers for all of those.

Now, it'll cost you 400-500 bucks just in tickets for a family to sit in bad seats, which is notable, but it's not 500/per, at least around here.

This is my truth. To go to an LSU game it would mean driving from N.O. to B.R., fight the traffic to get to the stadium, then fight it again to head back to N.O. after the game. So we're talking at least 9 or more hours of my time to attend the game and make the round trip.

That alone is enough for me to stay on my sofa in the comfort of my home, drink ice cold bottled beer that cost me $18 a 12 pk., eat home cooked food and only have to walk 20 ft. to a clean and empty bathroom if nature calls.

People make terrible decisions with money so what youre seeing is people with little money spending large percentages of what they have at these events. The smart decision is watch at home these days.

Pretty close to the game, the cheapest LSU/Clemson tix were like $390. I have commented a lot that the old days of just waiting until the end don't seem to work anymore.

That wasn’t a normal game though… not every game is going to be a hyped top 10 matchup, a rematch of a recent natty

They were $600+ about 2 weeks before the game when I checked. I didn't check again closer to the game since I wasn't making the trip.

ETA: But that's probably going to be far and away the most expensive game on either team's regular season schedule this year. Top 10 game, season opener, and 2 high profile programs that are unlikely to play each other again in the regular season for a long time after this home-and-home series.

What area do you live in? That sounds more like playoff ticket prices. I live in Atlanta, and I can usually snatch some nosebleed for like $50-$70.

I'm a cheapskate, typically I will eat before/after the events. If I'm going to something in Atlanta, I'll take the train. If I'm somewhere else, I'll park farther away and just make the long walk.

When I go to Bama games by myself I love wearing athletic gear and then sprinting 2 miles back to where my cheap arse parked for free. Stay for the whole game and still one of the first out of Tuscaloosa.
