Trivia:
Why did E,W, and F choose "21st night of September"?
Answer: no real reason other than it "sounded good".
Similar is Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" .They choose the city boy to be from "South Detroit" because it sounded good. And there even isn't a South Detroit.
At least for Earth , Wind and Fire, there is a September 21.

Gangster rap became mainstream.
While perhaps true of the situations in rough neighborhoods, it celebrated the worst of the society. Drugs, violence, selfishness, disrespect. If you go back to the 60’s and 70’s (even before) you have some all time great music made by black people who were some of the most talented musicians and singers who ever lived. Now the “stars” are people with little talent whatsoever. They can’t sing. They can’t play and instruments. All they can do is rip “sample” music made by talented people and incoherently rhyme over it.
