He will obviously get to play. And if he doesn't, that's a great thing, because it will mean that Rattler is looking so good that we're ready to eat that cash.

Chill out everyone.

Worth every penny if Shough never starts and is our backup for say Spencer or say a top 5 pick next year. Still worth every penny. Backup QB's aren't cheap. Anyone bitching about anything is a fricking tard looking to run their mouth.

This isn't even remotely correct. Do you know how to Google?

It's more in line with JT Gray's contract.

That said, $10M over 4 years isn't some onerous contract that forces a team to play a guy. Kenny Pickett is making more per year...and no one is saying "We gotta play Kenny! He's making $14M guaranteed"

Absolutely this. You can debate whether Shough was worth the opportunity cost of a 2nd round pick, but his salary is peanuts for a backup QB.

What are you talking about? The Steelers absolutely said that. For two full years.

And the Raiders are likely to say the same if Geno starts stinking it up.

The Browns knew they werent playing him, so they got him off the books.

What an idiotic statement. Yea it’s smart business to give up the ability to draft a top 30-35 player to have a clipboard holder for 2.5 million a year his entire career here?

Could have signed Wentz or another qb for that and have it count less on the cap.

You must be Loomis’ brother to say stupid shite like this.

If he's even slightly below average as a QB his contract is an absolute steal for the next 4 years.

Same thing goes for Rattler.

That rookie deal is peanuts compared to what starting QBs are making.

And it’s peanuts compared to what most veteran backups make. Winston made around $10 mill per year over here. Kirk Cousins has a $40 million cap hit this year. Stidham is making $6 million/yr.

So the Raiders would say it’s ok for the backup to be making $38 million a year if Geno isn’t good? Confusing statement considering the subject of the conversation is backup QB’s value.

The subject of the conversation is a rookie QB's contract. I made the topic. I know what the fricking subject is.

He's the highest paid draft pick since Olave. They fully intend to play him, and thinking otherwise is total nonsense.
