It's that time once again. Looks more crowded than usual. I think they've had some rain but there have been no reports of of strange dormant creatures waking with the moisture, like last time.
I haven't even checked to see what ticket prices are like nowadays. When I went, they were $250. Last I checked, they were $1500.

I just sold my ticket once I heard the Orgy Dome was destroyed from the weather.

is this shark-jumped crap still going on?
waiting for the celebrities and billionaires to arrive in their fortified RVs.

Nah, everything has that weird sweet smell of the playa dust. I think it's too dry there for mass BO to really fester.

I’ll be pulling up shortly:

I was in Reno years back soon after it finished and saw some of the RVs in a parking lot at the Grand Sierra Casino. I have never seen dust/filth like that in my life.

A honest opinion of the event would be a good post to read.

What do you actually do and what do you get for the money? Is there live music? Do you just burn shite? I don't get it....

I'm as traditional as they come, but I would have loved to be dropped into Burning Man for a couple hours in its peak days
Always been a little fascinated by it, although I suspect at this point the mystique is largely gone

Not sure there is a music festival that exist you could pay me enough money to go to.

I was there in 2004 and 2005. It's not the non-stop party/orgy that people seem to think it is. Don't get me wrong. Every sexual thing you can imagine can be found there, but it really is more about the art installations. I saw some of the most breathtaking art objects I've ever seen. The imagination, craftsmanship and time that goes into them is staggering. Some spend the whole year working on their projects.
Aside from that, there are lots of naked people, lots of drugs, and you will be hearing techno music for weeks after you get home. It's a constant presence wherever you go in BM.
RIP La Contessa

I saw a T-Shirt the other day that said "I Eat 4 Day Old Festival arse".

There are ways you can get in much cheaper, though. I know people who have gotten free admission in exchange for coming early and helping to set up the festival.

watched the live cam...looks slummy. The ROT rallies in Austin 10 years ago had a simple purpose well executed. Beer, Bikes,Boobs. Austin liberals had no tolerance for such stuff

I’m squarely in this camp. Would have loved to have gone when I was in my late 20s or early 30s.

Thank you. That is interesting. I think the first time I ever heard about it was when there was a youtube video that surfaced "Spark - A burning man story" or something like that.
Looked crazy. Thanks for the write up
