This will not be a popular opinion on here but using the Guard to fight crime will open the door for extreme abuse of power once there is a Democrat back in office.

The Guard will eventually be used to fight white supremacy, fight for climate initiatives, etc.

I appreciate the sentiment but this is a really bad precedent.

You’re exactly right. But most here aren’t capable of comprehending that.

The NG is being used as it should. Clamped down on the Mexican invaders in LA. Driving out illegals hiding out in our capital

Democrats turned American cities into war zones and cut their police budget. What else is the NG supposed to do in peacetime if not securing domestic stability?

It does not get much more “extreme” then raiding a former presidents home, and having shoot to kill orders . Arrest all the criminals in government and crush the democrats . Redistrict every red state . They need to be crushed and removed . They are a danger to this country.

Since when do democrats need precedent to act in bad faith?

Check your history. Been done before by dems. Hochul used them during a prison strike at a STATE prison. Hochul also used them to increase security on CITY subways.

Honestly some of you are so hell bent on criticizing this administration... you are clueless that nothing new is being done. Been done before.

Precedent is not being set. Precedent was set already and precedent has been reinforced many many times. Good grief.

All this talk about the NG "abuse of power" is bullshite.

What is the NG actually doing on these deployments?

Are they working for or against citizens? Are they making things better or worse?

It is an overall positive thing.

Just so you’re aware. If Trump orders national guard troops to democrat cities it will be under Title 10 and the distinction between national guard and active duty troops is non existent. DC is one thing, it’s a federal city and the DC guard and the states sending troops to the city agreed to do so under Title 32.

So Trump can’t order the Illinois NG to active duty orders under Title 32 to police Chicago without the governor’s permission. Which means he would have to do it under Title 10 which makes them federal troops.

Obama used the IRS to attack his political enemies.

The biden administration used corrupt AGs and DAs to attack Trump.

The door of abuse has been kicked down by the Dems.

Are you under the impression this is the first time fedgov has sent in the NG to ensure order and lawfulness?

It was necessary.

If you need something to blame, start with the local DC government, the democrats’ soft stance on criminals, and lack of support for law enforcement.

I agree

Let the gang bangers continue to kill each other. Don't get involved in these shitholes.

If they are "fighting crime" it is at the most basic level. They don't have arrest powers. They are more of a deterrent to bad behavior.
