What is your opinion on why Las Vegas tourism is said to be tanking?

1. Overall interest in gambling has dropped
2. Corporations, etc aren't going to Vegas for conferences, etc.
3. Prices for lodging, meals, etc have surged to unreasonable levels
4. There are many more casinos sprinkled across the country
5. Online gambling is increasing

My thoughts are mostly there are more casinos around along with the exorbitant prices in Vegas keeping people away.

I haven't been there in years, so perhaps it's not as bad as what I've read recently.

This. You can’t find a drink on the strip for under $20. Restaurants have gone up substantially as well.

I would disagree. Vegas doesn't have a hold on the gambling market any longer as you can bet in most, if not all, states from a computer.

They used to give you lodging food and alcohol for free. They now exorbitant prices for the same thing.

What is shocking to me is the new business even works at all.

Has anyone been recently and can confirm that the pricing out there is just out of whack? It's always been higher than other places, but you expect it when you go out there, unless you're drinking for free while gambling. I have heard that the fees they are putting on hotels is crazy to the point that there are more fees than the room rate.

Lots of other options to gamble.

Las Vegas used to be relatively inexpensive, they made their money on gambling. Now it is on general entertainment and gambling.

It's hot as frick for most of the year and it used to be a decent value. Now it's as expensive (or more so) than any other city.

And gambling is more accessible these days. I live about 30 minutes from the Choctaw Casino, and while not Vegas-fancy, it's definitely nice enough to gamble at if you are in to gambling.

I went recently for work and knew I would not be returning on my own dime when they had a sign saying they were going to charge me for putting my own water in the refrigerator in the room.

Just nickel and diming the shite out of you.

If the idea is that higher prices will lead to a higher class clientele then the prices need to be substantially higher.

Stayed at the Bellagio for a few nights in June….room rate was $199/night which is not bad for the hotel, however, the resort fee was an additional $55 per night. After the fee, parking, and taxes it was around $100 a night more than advertised.

Some people say those vids claiming it's dead are propaganda. I don't know.

The best sportsbooks in the world are on my phone, so I have zero desire to go there for something like March Madness or a big football weekend. I would probably still go with family and do some nice dinners. But, things are pretty expensive there now, no $2.99 buffets like in the '90s. I have no idea how normal bros even try to deal with going to the club there.

Vegas got insane when PE firms got involved and moved the model away from mostly gambling revenue and to mostly revenue from hotels, drinks, and experiences.

This made the cost to go insane.

Not to mention they got hit hard with COVID and they are trying to price gouge their way back from those losses.

Yet another example of “it was better when the mob ran it”
