Yesterday I ate a can of food that was 4 months expired. It appeared and tasted fine. Honestly I'm sure canned food is good for years after its expired.

What is the oldest things you've ate and did it make you sick?

I took a 7-year-past-expiration tylenol a few days ago... still works. Got a giant bottle on sale at Rite Aid (no idea why though because no one needs that much tylenol)

Seems like hamburger buns last forever these days. I've had some in the pantry since before the 4th and not a trace of mold. Unnatural. I'm not going to eat them, but I can't throw them out.

Generally, non-liquid medicines don’t expire.

The military did a study on it.
quote:

Most of drug expiration dates information is from the study conducted by the Food and Drug Administration at the request of the military. With a large and expensive stockpile of drugs, the military faced tossing out and replacing its drugs every few years. What they found from the study is 90% of more than 100 drugs, both prescription and over-the-counter, were perfectly good to use even 15 years after the expiration date.

I just finished a nice serving of edamame that came from soybeans I grew in my backyard garden, parboiled and vacuum sealed in the summer of 21.

I found them in my freezer yesterday when rearranging things and decided to defrost them to see if they were still good------------and they are.

12 year-old peanut butter. It was same as brand new. I did some research before eating, though.

I honestly don’t pay much attention to expiration dates on most foods. I think they are used by corporate food providers to get people to throw away perfectly good food so that they have to replace it.

I tend to let smell be my guide in most cases. People at work laugh at me because I’ll eat food, mainly leftovers, for a much longer time than they will. I really hate wasting food. I think that’s a characteristic I got from growing up relatively poor.

I have some 50+ year old cayenne powder, McCormick brand. Still over 75% full cause that stuff is still hot! I love spicy food but that bottle of cayenne I just can't put more than 1 sprinkle on stuff like a round steak, quesadilla, taco, or fish fillet. I think mom and dad used it 1 time and I inherited it when I moved out.

Back when I was a Boy Scout & joined the Order of the Arrow we had some kind of ancient spaghetti & Tang combo for our "initiation dinner." According to the adults cooking, the noodles had all expired & the Tang was from the 80s (this was 2009).

We had only had a boiled egg and half a sandwich all day so we were starving...the 1st plate tasted great, 2nd plate I ate one bite and threw it out

I ate a 10 lb. lobster once. I heard that they are over 50 years old when they get to be that size.
