Any recommendations? Used to go to Perkins Road Veterinary Hospital off of Perkins, but my vet is no longer doing routine visits and some people I’ve talked to said they are very expensive in comparison to other places.

Been to them all and it’s the closest and not that much more expensive

I’d opt for the 22 behind the ear though

I suggest only going to vets that do large animals. They understand that there is an economic point to treatment that doesn't make sense. Vets that only treat cockapoodles charge as if they know most of their clientele will spend anything on precious fluffy for months to keep it alive six months after it was time.

2nd highland Rd animal hospital. They took care of my last good boy who developed liver cancer. They are a bit higher than some other vets. They also have boarding which we used a lot

This they are still local. Always ask if the vet clinic is locally owned. If not, they will gouge you non stop at every turn. You’ll be forced into their “policies”. Corporations owning small vet clinics is an epidemic and EVERYONE in Baton Rouge sold out. Last I checked Garden District is still local.

So you want someone who solely practices on a completely different species? Do you also take you kid to see the dentist when he’s sick?

For exams and outpatient, LSU Vet School for the win in both quality of care and cost. If they have to stay overnight, the cost is a lot more.

We've used Animal Health Clinic on Perkins for the most part and been quite satisfied

LSU SVM is disgustingly overpriced.
With that being said, we had a dog there several years ago. 10 days cost as much as tuition, room and board for a semester. They even overcharged and wouldn’t back off the excess. Would absolutely pay again. Why? He got care he never would have received anywhere else. Take it for what you will.

If I lived in the area, I would see Liz Eastin at Old Hammond.

We found Angie Samson shortly after we moved here. Her office is in Plaquemine, but she makes house calls (at least in the Oak Hills area). It cost an extra $10 but was worth it since our dog was old and we didn't have to get him out.

She took good care of him.

We use Dr. Ramirez there and have been satisfied overall. They probably are a bit more expensive, but it’s a top notch clinic. Plus, if your pet ever has dental issues, it’s the only place you want to go.
