I searched Louise and exit
quote:

BATON ROUGE - A 34-year-old passenger was killed in a car wreck early Saturday morning along Interstate 10 near Louise Street, police said. The Baton Rouge Police Department said that the single-vehicle crash happened around 2:28 a.m. Officers reported that the driver failed to navigate the exit, hit crash attenuators and a concrete curb before the car fell off the interstate.

Not the first time a vehicle has fallen off of I-10 between Acadian and I-110. Ever notice how they put the guard rails on backwards? Where if the car hits them the car will roll over the top of them. If they were on the right way they would block the car from rolling over. Don't know how no one at DOTD never figured this out after the first or second or third time it happened over the decades.

No.

Louisiana is retarded for improperly installing traffic control devices. At least according to one poster.

It doesn't sound like it "Fell off". Bo and Luke jumped off.

ETA: A name search shows that one of the participants has multiple arrests for stealing, thieving, and burgling. Had he have been in prison for his crimes, he would still be alive.

Am I remembering something that didn't happen, but didn't a truck full of cows tip over the I-10 at the exit to the Mississippi River bridge, sending cows flying all over the place? Would have been late 70s.

Or was that at Sports in the early 90s.

Those are bridge barrier rails, and I don’t have access to the original plans for that part of I-10, but according to a document published by LTRC, those are installed facing the correct way.

It makes sense. I can’t really think of any rail design that curls back in at the top. It would not give at all….Crash tests are based on the vehicle approaching at around a 45 degree angle and designed to redirect the vehicle back to an upright position. We don’t know what angle this vehicle hit the GR, how fast they were going, etc.

The article says he hit the crash attenuators, which sounds like he they hit something like this first, not the bridge barrier.

Anytime I go to the Schlitz and Giggles Pizza area on Perkins, I’m always worried that someone is going to fly off the interstate and crush me.

Reminds me of the mid-90s when that dump truck went over the guardrails on the overpass by Drusilla and killed the driver. Had weird dreams about that as a kid when I heard about it on WYNK

Wow, someone bringing actual knowledge into a thread like this, as opposed to speculation .

Cow truck fell off and a melon truck too. Littered the playground underneath.

I remember the locals were filling their cars with melons.

Not only that, how about we expect a little personal responsibility instead of blaming some other entity for a crash? I can see why Louisiana has insane car insurance rates; someone loses control and people immediately jump to "well why didn't the guard rail do more?!"
