BS. They had their chance to 'oppose' Newsom.
They chose him.

Since when did Gav give a shite what CA voters thought?

They are about 35 years late on this.

I think you are correct
Posted on 8/17/25 at 7:31 pm to Major Dutch Schaefer
They are already gerrymandered.
Posted on 8/17/25 at 7:33 pm to Great Plains Drifter
He doesn't, but I think they need a referendum on the plan.

They realize that if the gerrymandering gets ratcheted up and it induces more Republican states to do the same it's a loss for them. Once you escalate you just encourage more states to do it. California voters aren't as dumb as people think.

This is misleading, if not straight up false.
64% polling is voters support for maintaining the independent redistricting commission. That part is accurate and all well and good in a vacuum.
But what’s actually going to be asked in November is a different question. “Do you support redistricting in response to what Texas is doing?”
That answer won’t be anywhere near 64%. Esp in the state of California.

Dems on the wrong side of another 60/40 issue. Love to see it!

That’s not what California will be voting on. What the pollsters polled is the issue Californians are being asked to adopt. This is a ballot initiative, not the Teen Choice Awards.

What they’re voting on in November and what this poll reflect are not the same thing. If you can’t see that you’re just asking to be caught flat footed.
I mean does that even pass your BS detector test? A +20 dark blue state is going to vote 2-1 AGAINST becoming more of a Dem stronghold? Come on, I have so many bridges to sell you.

No doubt you support it, you are functionally retarded

If Texas does it, absolutely. If roles were reversed so would you. Eye for an eye.
What I actually support (just like every other sane reasonable person) neither state should do it. Anti-democratic to its core.

Mandering is what it is......not much can be down about it either.
Supreme Court will take these fights in due time....

California doesn’t abide by what the voters want.
If they want certain person in a certain position it happens

It passes my BS detector because California voters have overwhelmingly supported the independent redistricting commission the past 20-years. Newscum’s plan is only popular among the party faithful and not rank and file voters.

Modesto and Merced are more blue than SF ?

From politico in reference to what they’re voting on:
“California Democrats have also promised not to do away with the state’s independent redistricting commission entirely. Instead, they plan to ask voters to approve a constitutional amendment that would put new maps approved by the Legislature in effect for the 2026, 2028 and 2030 election cycles, according to legislative sources familiar with the draft measure. The independent panel would then resume its role as the state’s line-drawer after the 2030 census.”
Did the poll account for this? Somehow I doubt it. This is strictly about combating Trump trying to steal seats in Texas. There’s no way it’s going 2-1 against In California in a midterm.
But whatever, guess we’ll find out!
