My fandom took a massive hit walking out of the dome after the rams debacle and then with CSP leaving and the Dennis Allen nightmare, I checked way out on the Saints.

However, as bad as they are going to be this year, at least the rebuild has finally started and there's some strange excitement around the team for me. I like what I've seen out of Moore so far, and this rookie class looks promising.

Anyway, just wanted to try to put a positive spin before we all meltdown on the first drive of preseason.

Pretty clear that a lot of fans were lying their arse off when they said they wanted a rebuild.

Judging from the threads on here about how bad we are going to be and how unexcited they are...they didn't want a rebuild, they wanted the mediocrity that the Saints provided them the last few years

Same man. Nothing worse than the death by a thousand cuts slow bleed out we were experiencing. Would honestly rather be lovable losers again as opposed to that non sustainable formula.

Exactly. My first game in the dome was the browns hail mary game. Winning is still foreign to me in a lot of ways

I was at that game as a kid. Terrible. Will never forget Ditka laying on the field

We were also at the Flipper Anderson game

I'm excited about the new coaching staff.

Mainly the head coach

Young, motivated, and innovative.

The complete opposite of what DA was.

I'd be lying if I said I wasnt still nervous because of Loomis and the stroke he has in the building though.

As long as Kellen Moore is really getting to develop his plan that's good enough for me

DA clearly never had a plan.

I'm very excited after it being a chore to watch the last 2 years. I think Moore will be a solid HC if we give him a couple of years to get it figured out. Shouldn't hold W/L's against him at least the next 2 seasons, which works because he can get his feet wet with no pressure.

I also don't think the roster is as bad as people are making it out to be. I think we can squeeze out 7 wins. I'll for sure bet over 5.5 at +135, and considering throwing some on over 6.5 at +220. I can see wins:
vs. Cardinals
vs. NYG
vs. New England
vs. Tampa
vs. ATL
vs. Carolina
vs. NYJ
at Tennessee

Even if we lose a home divisional game, we can make one up on the road. Don't think @Seattle, @Chicago, and @Miami are out of reach either depending on how those teams adjust to all their changes and if they are healthy (Miami has razor thin depth).

I'm excited too, mainly with our new coaching staff and seeing how all the new players work out. As I get older I get more excited about the team building side of things.

I'm really curious about our QB room and how things will look next year. I'm not counting Rattler out yet, Tom Brady himself wouldn't have been successful with our lineup last year. Not saying Rattler is another Brady or anywhere close, but hoping to see him continue to develop. Shough may also pull it off. We'll see. I've kinda written Haener off, hope he proves me wrong.

I'm with you. It's a fresh start and no real expectations. I have high hopes for Moore as a head coach. Now to see if he can fulfil them.

For the rest of you, try not to be miserable twats this season and give it a minute

No DA. Instant joy. DA looked stupid, sounded stupid, and worst of all—coached stupid.

They’ll inevitably get mad when we 4-13 as if that outcome wasn’t expected

Hope is the most enjoyable part of sports fandom. People won’t admit this but planting the flag at the top of the mountain never feels AS good as the idea of planting the flag feels like it will. It feels great but the hope and immediate realization of it (like Tracy Porter in open field levels of immediacy) are the tops.

And when you are a great team, every game is just either “yep we were supposed to” or “frick we’re gonna blow this”.

When you are at the bottom it’s just “movin on up” or “not yet”. If you recalibrate it can be a bunch of little enjoyable “wins”.

If the only version of fandom you can enjoy is “we are gonna win it all or bust” you should really just quit

Was going to say, the crazy outrage will happen if they finish with 5 or fewer wins. The smack to the face will be when they fall just under .500 and we’re looking around like “same old Saints, can’t even rebuild correctly”
