@Clemson - win this one and LSU finally gets the monkey off their back of not being able to win the opener and we move into the top 5 with high hopes remainder of season

vUF - if Miami with Carson Beck beats ND week 1, then LSU v UF on Saturday night in Death Valley is probably your game of the week in week 3. gameday location in BR over the A&M @ ND game

@Bama - it’s LSU v Alabama. Year in year out one of the most talked about rivalries in CFB due to talent on both sidelines

@OM - Ole Miss will be 4-0 headed into this home game for them with playoff aspirations

vUSC - Sellers picked as preseason 1st team SEC over Nuss. Come into the year on the radar this time as a top 15 team

vA&M - looking at their schedule won’t be surprised if this is a top 10 matchup headed into this one if they manage to win either of their ND, UF games

@OU - expecting them to have a less than stellar season

All of those are huge games but the Clemson game has to be considered the biggest of the year since we have to get that monkey off our back.

I agree with your list.

Although, I would say the bama game is losing its significance ever so slightly.

I think it today’s CFP environment, UF/USC/A&M/OU are bigger games because they are winnable and if you take those, bama doesn’t matter as much.

I always hate being in the position each year where we have the line “well if we beat bama and then run the table we can do xyz”

I’d love for a change LSU gets the benefit of having the bama game not mean as much.
Lord knows bama has (I.e 2011)

for sure, maybe proper way to look at question is which games do you think will have the most hype among fanbase during the week

The opponents I left off are generally not games people get very excited for (SELA, WKU, Vandy, etc)

Forget the monkey off their back and irrelevant ranking (the CFP poll is all that matters). Winning this game clears the path for the CFP with a reasonable margin for error (2 losses) the rest of the way. Lose this game, then LSU has to be almost perfect in the final 11 to likely make the CFP. I don't think it's hyperbole to say this game could determine if LSU makes the CFP or not.

Whether all LSU fans want to admit it or not, this is LSU's (current) most hated rival and since 2007 LSU's path to greatness has gone through Alabama. LSU fans (rightfully so) would say the only reason Alabama was a better program was because Saban was the HC. Well, that excuse is no longer there. If LSU thinks it's a better program, then you beat Alabama without Saban.

I HATE this spot for LSU...regardless of how good or not good OU is. Ending the season on the road against at least a capable SEC team is never easy. We've seen good LSU teams in the past go on the road to play less than great Arkansas teams and struggle. In 2022 we saw an LSU team on the cusp of the CFP (ranked #5) go to College Station and be dominated by a losing A&M team. We've seen great Alabama teams go on the road vs lesser Auburn teams and struggle. We saw Alabama just last season have the CFP in their sights before going to Norman and getting dominated by a very average OU team.

It's not a "rivalry" game. It may not even be a game vs. an opponent with a great record. But where it lands on the schedule could make it huge for LSU.

That's so subjective, though. If we beat Clemson, we'll have so much hype surrounding the Florida game. If we beat Florida too, it'll be amped up even more for the next SEC game, and so forth until we lose. For now, I'd say the Clemson game is THE game of the season for LSU. We have to win that game.

Understand the sentiment with game1, but it is still Bama for me. Conference game, and still a strong litmus test for good to elite. Would say the same for Georgia if they were on the schedule. Hope we see Georgia in sec championship game.

100% and it floors me how everyone is saying this is an auto easy win. Ask Bama with a playoff spot on the line how that went last year

They are a very sexy team. Like I’ve said, Josh Pate, Staples and Doering have them as a playoff team and USA Today picked them to win the sec.

They have a coach fighting for his job and arguably the best QB/RB in the sec.

Anyone who thinks we walk into Norman at night in front of 90k in cold weather is fooling themselves

Just going to say this, I’ve never been as absolutely pissed at a team as I was last year in the stadium watching that piece of dogshit that Brian Kelly rolled out.

The rematch vs Baylor(Liberty Bowl) is gonna be huge, LSU should have HFA this year in Memphis though

I tend to go with “next one” is biggest, but I’ll play.

1. Week 1 @ Clemson
2. Week 3 vs Florida
3. Week 11 @ Bama
4. Week 7 vs SC
5. Week 5 @ Ole Miss
6. Week 9 vs A&M
7. Week 14 @ OU (could end up being one of the most important games if we are 9-2, but could also be meaningless if we are 11-0… or 8-3)

1. Bama - this is the game that will decide us being in the conference champ
2. Clemson - huge kickoff game between 2 playoff caliber games
3. Ole Miss - they have been good lately and this is on the road
4. Florida - They are still florida, and this is a revenge game
5. Aggie - Always have good recruits and love beating us
6. OU - Need to s
7. SC

Atm, Florida, scar - you gotta win the sec home games. These especially since atm/ Florida beat our arse last yr, and with coaches people here mock.

So many direct recruting battles with atm each year, and florida lately as well.

The other 4 listed you can split 2-2 and have a 6-2 playoff bound sec season

yes it is a subjective topic, it’s still the offseason for a bit longer but appreciate it you playing

I expect based on your own predictions people will have different answers. As someone said Bama is pretty much always our litmus test so would expect Clemson or Bama to be everyone’s #1

Better than last year? Yes. But this is a bridge WAY too far for me. Their schedule alone is brutal with road games @ South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama, in addition to the neutral site game vs. Texas. To win the SEC and make the CFP means they have to be damn near perfect on the road, and win all of their home games vs. Michigan, Ole Miss, LSU, and Missouri.

Also, Ott is a good back and Mateer seems to be a good QB, but there is a world of difference between lighting up teams like Portland St, San Jose St, Hawaii, Utah St, New Mexico, and doing it weekly against Alabama, Texas, LSU and the like. Plus, while he had a lingering injury all year, Ott rushed for 11 yards vs. Auburn, 2 vs. Miami, 37 vs. SMU.

Best QB/RB combo in the SEC? Not even close. Even if you take off the purple and gold glasses, I don't think any reasonable person who wasn't looking for "hot take" attention would say Mateer/Ott (who have never played in the SEC) is a better combo than Nussmeier/Durham, who have a record of actual production vs. SEC opponents.

I put Florida ahead of Bama due to placement in schedule & revenge game for last year. It is a “can’t lose” game and would affect my outlook on the remaining games
