While its domed peers in Houston, Detroit, Indianapolis, Minneapolis and Seattle have long since become obsolete and demolished, the Superdome has endured the test of the time and remains a state-of-the-art facility, recently hosting its record eighth Super Bowl.

hard to argue against the dome. do feel like some of the amenities in the luxury boxes could be better...

1. It's a multipurpose building. During the spring and summer it hosts conventions, and Endymion holds its post parade extravaganza there.
2. If you were going to build it today, the ideal location would be....where it already is.

Left out JYD/Stagger Lee winning the North American championship belt in Mid South Wrestling. Always drew 25k to the dome. Should be hanging on the wall of fame. Beloved in the city of New Orleans.

How many domed stadiums were built after the Superdome and have been imploded or are sitting inactive? Louisiana hit it out the park with this one.
I’ve been to several games in Allegiant Stadium in Vegas. The Dome is a better place to watch a game IMO.

People like to shite on Drew Brees but you can thank him and Sean Payton for their time with the Saints for the city and state to keep the dome first class. I don’t see it getting all those improvements if they were the same old Aints I grew up with.

Katrina helped with insurance money too. Personally, I really dont see the Saints leaving, even if Gayle sells. Nowhere else to really relocate, except for San Antonio, and that's a slim chance. Especially with the Jones family could squash that idea real quick.

Between 1965 (Astrodome) and 2002 (Ford Field), several dome stadiums have been built and later demolished. That's 37 years. The Superdome is the only one still standing.
I believe one of the biggest reasons for that is its location. Building it right downtown, close (and walkable) to just about everything makes it extremely hard to replace.

As an LSU fan, the last three football titles were all won there...
I would not trade the Superdome for something as soulless and characterless as Jerry World...

It’s an awesome concept. Every stadium below the 37th parallel should be a dome.
