The best car video you'll watch all week. Guaranteed. The production quality of the video is amazing.

Three drivers. Three Corvettes. One mission: reinforce Corvette as a dominant force in American performance. Join our homegrown engineering team—and the Z06, ZR1 and ZR1X—as they journey to the Nürburgring to conquer the unthinkable.

That’s pretty low bar. “We can beat a Mustang around a track!”

4th and 7th in the world is nothing to sneeze at.

If you’re into that sort of thing. I’d rather track an old 3 series with go fast goodies that I can wrench on.

Never claim to be a car guy of you don't know what a GTD is.
Honestly, the laps are rather disappointing in a way. The ZR-1X has 1250 horsepower and on a power track like the Nordschleife, it only beat the 992 GT3 RS by .07 seconds. The GT3 RS only has a NA 6 cylinder with 518 horsepower.

I am not a car guy at all. That thing looks like a TPOS to me.
I think car buying on stats alone killed the driving experience…which is the only thing I ever cared about. I drive a manual midsized truck now. I zoom around though.

Porsche has major advantages over Chevy at the Nurburgring. One, it's Porsche's home track so they can perfect the car's setup. Second, the porsche driver is a professional and a Ring specialist. Chevy had amateur drivers and a limited time window to learn the track and set the cars up.
At VIR, the ZR1 set a production car record at 2:32 compared to 2:37 in the GT3RS. This time the setup strongly favored the Chevy with their own driver, likely more time to set the car up, etc as the Porsche time was during the C&D lightning lap.
I suspect the Chevy is significantly faster on an even playing field but the Porsche punches way above it's weight.

Why do this if they were going to publicize the times?

I assume they were standard "street " cars, with stock-everything, except maybe tires.
That's an impressive time, and nothing sounds like a flat-plane V-8, but you're really outrunning your safety equipment.
Doing that speed routinely, I'd have a cage.
The Corvette has a pretty significant price advantage over the Porsche, especially now.

To show what the car is capable of for someone who's less than a professional driver...

Franz Hermann is not impressed.

Amazing achievement. Congrats to the Corvette team.

It blows my mind how good the latest gen Corvette is.

They should have paid Max Verstappen to be one, or the only, driver.

He recently drove the Mustang GTD and thinks he can do a sub 6:50:00 in it. He said it kind of jokingly, but you know he's also serious.

Your first comment had me wondering but this statement cemented your status as a Euro F@g

Saw and heard my first Z06 in the wild last week. Good looking and good sounding car. Have fun!

Well you’ve obviously never owned a German manual transmission. My last one had 188,000 miles on it with no clutch change and no fluid service. That car is still going strong, sold it because the AC compressor went out…dude had it back on the road in two days. Inline 6 to a manual is the way autos are supposed to be, Jeep had it correct.
You could take off from stopped without the gas pedal…ample torque at idle.
