Amazing.

You have plenty of meat and potatoes, schnitzel, and more. Can't recommend it enough.

Vienna is one of my favorite cities in the world and Munich was great as well.

I was less impressed by Prague but I think that's more because of the fact it's extremely hyped up.

Vienna is easily top 10 city in the world to visit. Excellent food.

Prague is a top 5 most beautiful city. The food was ok, but I was on a budget then.

Visited all three last year.

Like any other European city you can pay a lot if you want to or you can find locals haunts.

The food in Bavaria/Bohemia isn’t exactly mindblowing. Schnitzel, sausages and stews. The highest rated restaurants in Prague are actually curry houses.

In Prague; hit the historic square/clock and do the Pilsner Urquell location there. Solid food; some of the best beer in Europe. Hit the Black Angel’s bar around the corner. Absinthe bars are a thing and worth checking out. Eat a chimney cake.

In Vienna; hit up Sacher for the Sacher Torte. A classic chocolate dessert.

In Munich, gotta do the Hofbrauhaus drink liters and eat pork shanks.

I was not a fan of the Prague food scene. Ate at some restaurant in a cave looking place. Awesome experience but sub par food. I found the street food in the Christmas market to be good. Especially the dough with cinnamon and sugar cooked over charcoal and filled with hazelnut spread

All good.

I was in Vienna and Prague this past April and have been to Munich before.

Vienna.
I was on a river cruise in April so in Vienna we ate on the boat both nights for dinner but on a previous trip I had the pleasure of dining at Steireck. This is a Michelin 3*** restaurant in the park and makes many lists of the best restaurants in the world. It was fantastic but had a price to match.

A little more down to earth was Plachutta just off the Ringstrasse. They specialize in beef boiled table sides. Very good local food.

Vienna is famous for their pastry and coffee houses. Cafe Demel and the cafe in the Hotel Sacher were two of our favorites.

Prague
We spent three nights there after the cruise.
In Prague the best restaurant we ate in was Kampa Park which is on an island in the river almost under the Charles Bridge. They have plenty window tables featuring great views of the bridge and the Old Town illuminated at night. And the food is delicious.

Other excellent dinners were at the restaurant in the Hotel Augustine (where we stayed) and the restaurant in Hotel Pod Vezi around the corner at the foot of the Charles Bridge.

Munich
I was in Munich on a previous trip.
We didn’t do much fine dining there but mostly at at beer gardens and brew pubs. It was very good and the scene is lively. The Hofbrauhaus is the famous and historic place.

My BIL’s family hosted a German exchange student for a year. Great kid and knew how to cook. Everything he made was fantastic. Food will be good in that area.

Don’t sleep on the street food.

Really wanted to love that when we were there, but unfortunately didn’t. Probably the most underwhelming 3 star I’ve ever eaten at. Restaurant Silvio Nickol, 2 stars, was a vastly better meal in my opinion.

I kind of get what you are saying about Steireck I had a fantastic dinner there, but on the list of the best dinners I have ever had in my life I would probably rank it towards the bottom of the top 10.
Still great but I would take Guy Savoy and some of the other starred restaurants in Paris over it anytime.

Wasn’t bad, per se, and I’ll never pass up a chance to dine at place with a star or stars, just found their cooking kind of overly busy, a tad pretentious, and tending to use 10 ingredients when only 6 were needed. It definitely didn’t crack my top ten list.

Prague..

Go eat at Zdenek's oyster bar.

Damn the rest of the menu and order the Octopus dish x2. It was one of the best dishes I've ever had!

And have a bottle of gurdau blanc. Its a Czech wine that is fantastic!

As far as Munich... go to the big market in the old town and eat everything you see.

Also , a note for Munich.. if you want to see everything download the scooter app and just go.. it's cheap and easy and the roads/sidewalks were built for it.

I forgot to mention Atelier, 2 stars, was kick arse here. In the basement of Hotel Bayerischer, which was very nice. Tantris, 1 star, was also good. Hofbrauhaus is a must, of course, and Spatenhaus was also fantastic food, beer and atmosphere.

Eta: checked and Tantris has 2 stars. We covered a lot of stars on that trip, they kind of all run together.

Going again next month to Vienna and Munich for work.

Vienna - yes, Figmuller, world famous schnitzel. It never disappoints. Ask your hotel for reservations if you need and their is a christmas store across from it if your wife is into those things. And if you want a cool vibe in a cellar with great beer and Austrian Food - Zwölf Apostkeller

Munich - Chinesischer Turm if you like Beer gardens....right in the middle of the English Garden. I am not a wine drinker but colleagues who do almost make this a normal visit Restaurant & Weinhandel Broeding. I like the food. Another favorite of mine that is traditional Bavarian is Restaurant Halali near the US Consulate and English Garden.
