NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A Slidell woman is facing felony charges after Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill’s office said she fraudulently obtained Medicaid benefits while allegedly generating millions in business revenue.
Candace Taylor, 35, of Rousset Ridge in Slidell, was arrested Monday, July 28, by Louisiana Bureau of Investigation agents.
According to arrest records, the investigation began with a complaint from the Louisiana Department of Health alleging Taylor committed Medicaid recipient fraud by underreporting her income to qualify for benefits.
Investigators say Taylor applied for Medicaid in May 2019 under the alias “Candace Sailor,” listing a bi-weekly income of $1,900 and no dependents. That application was denied. Less than a year later, she reapplied using the same alias and inconsistent information, the affidavit states.
Between 2020 and 2024, Taylor is accused of misrepresenting, concealing, and failing to disclose financial information in order to receive government healthcare assistance. During that time, investigators allege her various businesses generated more than $9.5 million in revenue across multiple accounts under her control.
Despite claiming no income in 2020, investigators said Taylor’s financial records showed more than $480,000 in deposits that year alone, including luxury expenditures such as over $45,000 in vehicle payments to Audi Finance, multiple six-figure cashier’s checks used for property purchases, cosmetic surgery, and high-end jewelry. She also reportedly wired $100,000 to an exotic car dealership and made a $13,000 debit card payment toward a 2022 Lamborghini Urus.
In 2024, two months after purchasing the Lamborghini, Taylor allegedly reapplied for Medicaid benefits—this time reporting a $2,000 monthly income and failing to disclose her ownership of any businesses.
Agents also reviewed Taylor’s social media, where they found Facebook and Instagram posts showcasing luxury purchases.
Following their investigation, agents secured an arrest warrant for Taylor on one count of government benefits fraud under Louisiana Revised Statute 14:70.9.
She was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Monday.
The investigation remains ongoing.

Her Business
After looking at what her business offers and reading that she billed out millions in a few short years, something tells me this won’t be the only Medicare fraud she’s accused of.

She didn’t think riding around Slidell in a lambo would raise some eyebrows?

the guys that last in this business, are the guys who fly straight. Low-key, quiet. But the guys who want it all, chicas, champagne, flash... they don't last..

When will they ever learn that eventually it will come to an unpleasant end?

Is there any doubt at all that her business is rife with Medicaid Fraud as well that dwarfs her personal crime of falsifying her own Medicaid application?
Is this the equity that she was taught in school. “It’s okay for blacks to commit fraud because of slavery and systemic racism”?

I’m gonna guess she fudges on the eligibility criteria, and likely has ghost clients.

Throw her off the CCC. Five years in prison is too lenient.

Everyone should have questioned her sanity (and taste) when she spent that much money on a Verde Mantis car from a farm implement company.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. There are probably hundreds of other such cases in Louisiana.

The bigger question is how is she making the millions?

Needs some etiquette school with that utensil misuse. WNHI

Like a true criminal, she never saw it coming. She thought she was too smart to get caught. I hope she gets a life term.
