According to multiple reports on Sunday, LSU executive deputy athletic director Keli Zinn is now on the verge of following former LSU president William Tate IV to the east coast.

Zinn, a West Virginia native, has worked at LSU since 2022. She's directly overseen the school's football and gymnastics programs, while also helping its athletic department craft an athlete revenue-sharing plan and plot the early stages of a potential construction project for a new arena.

It really speaks to a lot of people's opinion that Tate wasn't the problem

Tate was forced out by our awesome governor. Louisiana politics won out, and started this fun chain of events

The flagship university has some of the most relaxed entry standards in the state.

That's what Tate did to the university. Below average education.

Because Rutgers is promoting one of our staff to be their AD? She’s only been at LSU less than 3 years and was never going to be AD here.

It was that way before Tate. The Enrollment Management team at LSU opted for that strategy to prepare for the downturn in HS student population

It’s paid off in spades.highest enrollment in history, graduation/retention rates have stayed stable. Ppl associate open enrollment with “participation trophies” but it was a savvy pivot that has put LSU in a strong position

Tate focused on getting research back on track. He was well on his way in changing the course of LSU.

Louisiana politics got in the way. We are literally chasing a great university president out bc he wouldn’t force the Vet School to put Mike on the field

They've had their strongest freshman classes academically for the past several years. Tate has them on the cusp of becoming an AAU university; losing him is a big blow to the university.

Zinn is a great athletic administrator, but she is tied to Woodward and he is not going anywhere. So, if she wants the top job she has to take it somewhere else.

That happened in the Fall of 2018. Tate was appointed in May 2021. In February of 2022, he lifted the mask mandates put in by his predecessor.

You need to pay attention.

Might as well get paid at Rutgers with a stress free job as no one cares about athletics

This is a lazy accusation. The bulk of Tate's prior academic research was focused on STEM education reform in black communities. He was hired at a time when the country was at peak woke, and academic standards were being lowered in the name of "equity". He could've been white as snow, and people still would've been skeptical of him.

And yes, he ended up doing a great job at LSU.

LSU had 57,000 freshman applicants for the 2025 Fall semester and accepted 7500. You’re talking out of your arse.

To be fair, Tate had a history of writing about CRT. CRT in and of itself is a form of stereotyping - the exact thing racism is. I'm not the kind to get on here and criticize a hire like Tate but I had my concerns. After speaking to a few buddies of mine in LSU admin and seeing his actions, those concerns were confirmed to be wrong. I think Tate did a wonderful job. I think Landry pushing him out and some of the other things Landry is doing have been the wrong courses of action.
