Full tweet:

quote:

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: "Today, over 100 members of Congress support a bill to fund Ozempic with Medicare at $1,500 a month. Most of these members have taken money from the manufacturer of that product, a European company called Novo Nordisk. As everyone knows, once a drug is approved for Medicare, it goes to Medicaid."

"And there is a push to recommend Ozempic for Americans as young as six over a condition, obesity, that is completely preventable and barely even existed 100 years ago. Since 74% of Americans are obese, the cost of all of them, if they take their Ozempic prescriptions, will be $3 trillion a year. This is a drug that has made Novo Nordisk the biggest company in Europe."

"It's a Danish company, but the Danish government does not recommend it. It recommends a change in diet to treat obesity and exercise. Virtually Novo Nordisk's entire value is based upon its projections of what Ozempic is going to sell to Americans."

"For half the price of Ozempic, we could purchase regeneratively raised organic agriculture, organic food for every American three meals a day and gym membership for every obese American. Why are members of Congress doing the bidding of this Danish company instead of standing up for American farmers and children? Because Novo Nordisk is one of the largest funders of medical research, the media and politicians and the medical schools all go along with them."

This bullshite needs to stop. Of course a drug company is going to bribe politicians if they can get $1,500 a month, per patient, from the government, guaranteed.

This needs to be made illegal. Both bribing and accepting bribes. I've worked in industries and couldn't even accept a small gift worth more than $50 without violating policies.

The way to combat obesity is to teach children to eat good foods, not processed junk. High proteins and low carbs. Fresh fruits and vegetables. That, and a moderate amount of exercise. It's not that hard to do. You can feel full by filling up on good food.

We need to force SNAP benefits from being used on junk food. Only meats, vegetables, fruits, and water.

Don't like it? Use your own money!

With a prescription of diet and exercise, you could eliminate the need for most medications. Lack of cardiovascular exercise and an endless supply of shitty food has cause an American catastrophe of metabolic disfunction.

I’ve said it here many times, RFKjr is the best part of the Trump admin. He’s one of the few that are actually delivering.

I’m not sure of the e right way but these glp1 drugs may be a cheaper alternative to the myriad of health issues they can help.. diet and exercise of course are preferred but realism needs to have a say when the government is paying The costs.

gLP-1s are not banned in Europe. They have ruled in their benefit analysis in favor of continued use at this time as in America.

That’s literally how this has always worked. Now they are doing it for a drug that actually helps keep people alive (myself included, though I have great insurance and have switched to Mounjaro because it keeps my blood sugar regulated a lot better), so of course the bad guys are against it.

My thoughts are mixed on this.

For 6 year olds, inappropriate. But for 30+ year olds, the odds of them slimming down without ozempyic are next to nothing. It’s probably cheaper to slim them down with the drug than it is be a fat arse and go to the emergency room for cardiac arrest, or develop cancers early

Should these fat fricks eat healthy and exercise on their own? Yes, but unless we regulate who gets government assistance (I.e must workout/eat “x”) it’s just not going to happen

I hear this drug does a great job of paralyzing your stomach, permanently and irreversible.

Yeah these people are obese for a reason and just saying eat better and go exercise is a pipe dream. Ozempic and the other semaglutides are incredible drugs and would have long term ROI as these obese people age and suck even more resources out of the system.

In 10-20 years, studies are going to come out, I predict, showing the bad long-term effects of using these weight loss/diabetes shots. It's the same as those awful diet pills that doctors prescribed to anyone and everyone back in the '60s and '70s. People want a quick fix, but quick fixes never work because people can't survive on a 700-800 calorie a day diet for the rest of their lives. 95% of them gain weight back when they go back to their previous way of eating. Same is true for the weight loss surgeries that have been so popular. Eating clean and exercising 4-5 times a week is the key to a healthy weight -- not these fads.

It is weird an American company produces the superior product that could easily be secured with a similar contract.
