Just saw this movie on a flight to Mexico.

It was Castaway on acid on a boat.

That’s is all .

Best thing about the movie was it came out when new technology in tv’s were rolling out… the colors and scenery in the movie popped like no movie had done before

I kind of want to watch it again. I’m obviously not smart enough to figure it out the first time

I liked it a lot. I read the book first and I enjoyed the movie even more, which is not common for me. It helps a little I guess that I love tigers, they are my favorite animal.

Btw,, if you have a really good sound system with a killer subwoofer or subwoofers you will love the scene where the ship sinks. Great audio.

no
his telling of the story on the raft/boat with the animals is an allegory...the "animals" were

quote:

his mother for the orangutan, an amiable Buddhist sailor for the zebra, the ship's brutish cook for the hyena, and Pi himself for Richard Parker. The cook kills the sailor and feeds on his flesh. He then kills Pi's mother, after which Pi kills him and uses his remains as food and fish bait.

No. He changed the characters on the story from the people in the beginning (on the boat) to animals. The ending of the film explains it.

Don’t forget the tiger. The tiger was Mr Parker who in turn was pi.

got it . So, he tells a story and the movie portrays the story, but basically Pi was never on a boat with a live tiger . That’s what I thought . Just wanted to be sure.

The tiger was Pi's inner survivalist/badass.

This movie was one of my favorites, and the book was full of psychological and philosophical concepts that makes you dive into some interesting subjects.

Correct. During the end of the film, they say which person from the beginning was “each animal”.
