Apparently this was originally shot in 2020 and was supposed to get a theatrical release. Instead they're dumping it on Prime next week. Honestly an awful trailer too.

quote:

The modern-day adaptation of H.G. Wells’ classic novel follows Will Radford (Ice Cube), a top cyber-security analyst for Homeland Security, who spends his days tracking potential threats to national security through a mass surveillance program, until an attack by an unknown entity leads him to question whether the government is hiding something from him … and the rest of the world.

Arriving on Prime Video July 30.

I honestly could not make it through the entire trailer.

Just terrible.

Not crazy about the 'data is food' stuff, but everything else looks damn good.

The one thing about WotW 2005 that bugged me was the hibernating aliens for 10's of 1000's of years, or longer, then them being 'woken up' by crazy lightning. Yes, it did look cool, and was a different take on the whole incoming meteor 'attack' trope, but it just seems so unrealistic and not very feasible.

What was the budget? $500?

The machines were buried. The aliens teleported down during the storm into the machines through the lightning if I remember correctly.

Still plenty of plot holes in that too. We never uncovered one in building cities? No accidental excavation of a tripod?

The data is food may have sounded good in their head but in reality it is fracking stupid. I'll rewatch 2005 which I also don't like because of the stupid Disneyfied ending. No way the kid survived that explosion on the ridge of that hill. nope.

As I watched the trailer I couldn’t decide whether it was fake or legit, it’s that bad

It reminded me of all the mysterious hooded figures you see on Americas Got Talent

If data is their food wouldn't they just leave us alone to constantly flood them with food while we create tik toks. lol. Why would they kill us is data is their food? Are they zombie aliens. They eat brains to absorb the data?

Lemme guess. The aliens get a virus from watching too much of our porn and die.

The news reporter showed them slowed down video of the aliens riding the lightning to the ships. The ships were buried, the aliens werent

With that much energy, I’m betting it was also enough to kickstart the machines.

When they got to Eva Longoria, I bailed. How is she even famous?
