KNOE news
I had a great aunt that was a nurse during WWII who worked there in the 40's. She lived south of I-20, off Jackson Street when I was a kid in the 60's.That area was beautiful back then.
How many of you Monroe guys were born there, or have a good St. Francis story?
I had my tonsils removed there. Also spent one night there when I was at NLU. after a 4' tall Klipsch speaker fell on my head at the KA house. Had to get nine stitches in the top of my head. I bled all over Todd Tonore's brand new Cutlas Supreme.

My Grandmother met my Grandfather there and they lived off Fort Miro for as long as I ever knew them..I remember my Great-Greats house being in a part of town that I wont even drive through when we go back every few years...
I do know my grandmother is in some of the pictures in the lobby referencing her

Hard to envision anything south of 20 ever being nice there

I’m from Monroe and I’ve been to the ER many times. Broken arm and needing stitches several times.

Ain't it the truth. I was born there, had tonsils out and sports injuries mended there, both my kids were born there, have had various relatives in and out of there my whole life. Still get lost as a goose

My parents owned a gas station on louisville. I walked to SFMC one time when I was 13 or 14 to see my dad when he was laid up in the hospital.
I and my daughter were born at Glenwood

Both of my kids were born there-2009 and 2011. My sister was an RN and NICU nurse there until about two years ago. It’s a good hospital-certainly the best in the area.

One of the most profitable non-taxing paying non-profit hospitals in the USA

They did a good thing for the area starting up an internal medicine residency program a few years ago with the VCOM medical school at ULM.
Gives Monroe a fighting chance to keep more doctors in the area.

I was born there in ‘72 along with both of my siblings. My grandparents moved to Monroe not long after WW2 because we had family here. My grandmother actually became a nurse and worked at the VA hospital in Alabama where she met my grandfather who was a Navy Corpsman who got wounded in the Pacific. They were kinda alone in Alabama so they moved back here. It was a no brainer for her to be a nurse at St Francis where she worked up until the year I graduated high school in 1990. My favorite stories about that place was going up there for the Christmas party for the floor staff and nurses as a kid with some of the other kids. Usually ate cake and ice cream till we were stuffed and then play hide and seek. It was a little spooky doing that in a hospital.
