Vegas experience without the baggage

I have not been to Las Vegas in close to 30 years and way before I got married. Based on what I have heard, it's mostly not my jam anymore. Lake Charles is more my speed now. But the wife wants us to go.
Is there anywhere we can go in Vegas that is not full of pimps, whores and idiots? What about Reno, Biloxi or somewhere like that? We can gamble a hundred, catch a show for her and just relax?

Las Vegas?
If Lake Charles is more your speed you should go to Stark Vegas.

You sound like a lot of fun.

There are a couple of nice hotels at the north end of the strip away from most of the madness: Wynn/Encore and the Fontainebleau. Both have good restaurants and you really don’t even have to leave unless you want to see a show somewhere else. Or you could go off strip to the Red Rock or Durango.
Sorry, but there is no complete escape from that in Vegas.

Maybe look at Red Rocks or Green Valley Ranch. Not too far from the strip, but much more enjoyable resort experience. You can cab down to the strip for a meal or two but otherwise have a relaxed atmosphere and better gambling odds/minimums.

I'm happily married now. What's the point of having fun?

There's not a place in the world that doesn't have a few of each.

New hotel downtown called circa. Adults only. Sports book area looks great. I have never even been in it, but youtube videos look interesting.

About 1 1/2 hours from Vegas is Laughlin Nv on the Colorado river. There are 8 casinos, 7 of which are on the river. Play on the river, or on Lake Mohave just above Davis Dam. Only time I've been back to Vegas is to fly out of the airport.

What are you failing to understand that your wife wants to go to Vegas?

I hope not.

Ironically, prostitution is still illegal in Clark County. If Vegas were to actually legalize prostitution for its city proper limits, I guarantee you that tourism rates would triple there.

Stay at the Trump International. It is very nice, not right on the strip, no casino and not nearly as expensive as many high end hotels, which it is considered to be, in Las Vegas.

Durango as well, the newest of the three.

So Vegas is full of pimps and whores, yet you’re considering Reno or Lake Charles??? Just take her to Red Lobster and call it a night…

Sam’s Town casino
There are plenty of casinos where the locals go that are off strip, which still have $5 blackjack tables

Why does your wife want to go to Vegas...I think that's the underlying factor. If it's just to gamble a couple hundred dollars and catch a show it seems kind of like a waste of money.
That being said, Vegas is a cesspool and my nightmare without any desire to go anytime soon BUT if you want a solid and classy clientele you can stick to Bellagio, Wynn, Venetian, Cosmopolitan and Fountainbleau.
Show suggestions would vary greatly depending on what you're into...magic, variety show, etc.

Those places are much more gross and depressing than the strip IMO

I had her sold on Red Rock and then it became a couples trip :-(
So we're all staying at the Wynn.
And I do know how to have fun. But while I'm relaxing and having fun I don't want a bunch of crazy shite or crazy people around me. Never been to Reno or Biloxi but the Lake Charles crazy is more than enough for this old boy these days. However the wife wanted us to go. So that's that.
I appreciate all the suggestions.

Any decent hotel on the strip won’t have the “baggage” OP describes.
