This is ridiculous. Why cant a 22,23 yr old NBA player control his weight. This is so

Stupid. Of all the things he could be doing (criminal charges, drugs, jail) to keep him off the NBA court, its packs of twinkies thats keep Zion off the court.

No someone has to inject him w/GLP-1 as part of his training routine.

Last night probably wasn’t the night to bring this up. He played well (for him)

Extremely low IQ is hard to fix. No matter how well you can play basketball.

I'll never understand how athletes, of any sport, but particularly multi-million dollar talents, can neglect their bodies. It's literally their money-maker.
Even popular Insta-hoes know this and are faithful to a diet/exercise regimen as a daily lifestyle.

He’s only 20, he’s still a kid.

Lol, we said this about Zion when he was 18-19-20-21-22-23-24.
Some kids get it and others don't. I'm willing to give Queen a year to figure it out tbh. He's 3 inches taller and 65 pounds lighter than Rookie Zion in SL. The difference is, he isn't an otherworldly athlete to make up for even being slightly out of shape.

He was 248lbs at the combine, he looks more like 260.

This is my biggest issue with these Pels team, a by-product are the injuries but conditioning is problem. Most of Pels are either undersized or oversized. Fears has a good handle and is quick if not explosive, but gets easily moved off his line and disrupts whatever intentions he had. This is summer league, he is going to have problems in the regular season facilitating until he puts on 8-10 lbs. Queen appears to have natural strength, good touch, along with a good feel for the game but could certainly benefit from a strength and conditioning program to help with his movement.
Just in general Pels do not make conditioning a priority and leave a lot up to the players motivation. It is so different than NFL where the teams seem to have more influence on player conditioning for their respective position.

Been saying this for years. We had both Ingram and Zion. One couldn't gain weight, one couldn't lose, and they were both injured all the time. At some point it's the organizations fault that its happening..

I can’t stand LeBaldness but I’ll always respect the time, money, and effort he puts into keeping his body at 100%.
Zion’s fat arse could learn a lesson.

There's a LOT of eating/dinners/celebrating in the span of time between the end of pre-draft workouts and Summer League.
That said, Pat Riley makes it a point of emphasis to make sure his players are in the best shape of their lives. You consistently hear players who go to Miami complain about the fitness regimen, only to praise it after the fact.

Biggest gripe with Queen last night was not being physical with the Chinese big when he was posting up on Queen. Queen just backed away until he was under the rim giving the Portland big an easy 2. He’s done that a few times. Not gonna fly in the nba

The NBA has embraced physicality and the Pels (aside from Husky) in this era are not physically imposing. Pels are disrespected Nationally as a poverty franchise with the players looking (relative to the NBA) as undernourished. This is exasperated by Coach Green's insistence on small ball lineups. The philosophy is not the problem, just developing your players for that system. Hope its not more of the same sure we'll let Zion run point at 285+, Herb starting the season opener at the 5 weighing 215lbs., TM3 over matched playing post defense.
Get these dudes in a weight and conditioning program so they'll be able to withstand an 82 game schedule. Hopefully Joe can instill some organizational discipline to set conditioning standards. I just have not seen the organization's commitment to this.

It should be the coach. But whomever is responsible for minute distribution, which is what players care about. I think Griff was in charge of minute distribution, not Coach Green. I don't know what the facilities look like, but they should have all the training/rehab equipment with a program designed for what they want each player to do. Should also have check-in during the off-season and monitor during the season (which most NFL teams do as a matter of operations). Your only paying these guys millions of dollars.
Remember when Husky showed up to the opening camp presser at 300+ and the team and media were shook because they had no idea he had gotten that big? That type of shite should never happen.

Zion is a lazy fat bum. Pelicans seem to keep bringing lame liabilities on the team.
