Astronauts Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin began their journey to lunar orbit at 9:32 AM EDT when the Saturn V rocket, carrying the spaceships "Columbia" and "Eagle," successfully lifted off launchpad 39A at Cape Kennedy, Florida.

No idiot has shown up yet to say the "Van Allen Belt"?

The culmination of Kennedy's dream and a national effort for human advancement the likes of which the world had never see and will likely never see again.
For most of us under a certain age (~65) we understand it either as children or as a historical event. However, this board has posters (notably CB58) who participated in this, actively, as adults.
The Space Race (and the finish line was the Moon in the 1960s) is an example of how competition can be a great boon to mankind. The value of national unity of purpose was also on display, with the Vietnam War as the negative side of those same things.
Much of the modern world was built upon technology developed for that era. The fact that the world was changed from a factory/big machine driven planet to a smaller scale, microprocessor-driven one is the most obvious one.

There is ONE big reason for this......

Buzz Aldrin had a heart rate of 88 bpm. A living legend. He wrote the book on space rendezvous and docking.
Plus he punched that guy in the face years ago.

Wish Buzz would punch you in the face too.
Explain the satellite images of the landing site we see today.

I was there. My dad was a NASA engineer. Powerful.

I remember watching with my family when Armstrong stepped onto the moon. Everyone was home because it was summer, and we had just eaten lunch together.

I was 10 years old at that time and remember it pretty well. Popular songs at the time during this were... a) Sweet Caroline b.) In the year 2525

I think most people believe we landed on the moon at some point, but to say the photos and images we saw at the time weren’t manufactured in a studio is just asinine.

We landed on the Moon in 1969. The only thing asinine is you.

If we faked it, why did we keep faking it 6 more times?

Let me guess.. partially because it showed a spherical earth.
