So with the BBB signing and the tax stamp price changing to $0, and the lawsuits filed to repeal the NFA altogether, how do you see yourself purchasing silencers going forward?

If you have one you want right now, do you buy now? Wait until January 1 and save $200 but battle the demand surge that will accompany it? Wait until we see the results of the lawsuit and purchase them without a stamp and registration if the lawsuit is successful?

I’ve been wanting another since I bought my last one. If I wait, I’m already looking at 6 months until the law goes into effect to save $200, then who knows how long to get one and get approval with the demand surge. Realistically it could be 3-6 more months. Knowing this the extra $200 doesn’t hit quite as hard.

If I were ready to buy one and could find one I wanted, I would not wait to save $200.

But I have zero patience for waiting on stuff.

Agreed. I’ve heard of people getting approved within 24 hours, which is worth the $200 to me. The way I see it is, if you don’t buy one before the $200 stamp price is removed, then plan on waiting a long time for approval. Plan on waiting even longer if the process is removed altogether. You’ll be waiting quite a while for the supply to catch back up to the demand.
I may be wrong, but that’s what I see happening. I plan on buying a new one here shortly, and will be paying the $200 and hopefully get approved pretty fast.

The last few I’ve bought were either on sale or had free tax stamps or both. I bought one 6/9 and picked it up 6/26. It took longer to prepare forms and ship. I certified 6/24 and was approved 6/26.

I have to believe that manufacturers are planning on this.

I may buy a shorter enticer. I’d like a suppressed .22, so I may have to grab a savage or something as none of mine are threaded.

I would wait, personally, unless there was some pressing need for it. Not just to save the $200 but also to see if I’ll need to create a trust and do all the stupid fricking NFA shite.

Watch what I tell you. When the $200 falls off, Suppressor makers will jack up their prices and claim it’s due to unprecedented demand.

I want an Omega K for my Zenith ZP5k. I have a Tirant9 with 3 lug on it now so not in a big rush. I’ll wait until after January to buy. The lawsuit is going to take years for it to get to the Supreme’s. There isn’t a guarantee they will hear it so don’t wait on it.

Or they will claim tariffs.

Yep! Either way, I bet we don’t see prices fall $200

Come Jan 1 everyone is going to be buying to save the $200. It's going to back up the approval process a bunch, and it's going to take forever again to get approved. I would go ahead and get what you want now while approvals are the fastest they have ever been. I got my last two approved in two days.

If you're dead set on saving the $200 some local shops are doing a lay away type thing so you are guaranteed to have the suppressor you want, but they won't do the paperwork until Jan 1st.

Yes, not to mention people are going to be flooding the ATF with approvals for things like home-serialized potatoes and oil filters to make it worse. It may ultimately help the court case, but will be a pain in the meantime.

Thinking about buying my first one now.

Meh, I'd rather my money go to the folks actually producing something anyway. $200 either way won't determine whether I get another suppressor.

In the same boat but I think I am not going to wait until January 1st.
Looking at a Banish 30, but I don’t know anything about suppressors.

My dream is that on Jan 1 Bowers will have a buy 4 get one free sale on the Bitty and I'll be slapping them on every 22 I have with threads!

Why would you even go the route of a trust with the current political climate? Highly likely most of the powers of the NFA will be greatly reduced, and even if Democrats win the presidency in 3 years, you'll be grandfathered in.

Because it doesn’t matter if nfa goes away and it just becomes a 4473 transfer then you would just transfer it from trust to yourself and be done.

I’ve seen a couple dealers paying for your tax stamp now to keep sales going. I have also seen where you can put money down on the suppressor, and start the paperwork, reserving your serial # for your it and then you finish paying come January and beat the back up of the system
