Who is our 2026 QB?

pur starting qb next year will be van Buren or maybe hes in a competition with Hurley . van Buren was a massive get out of the portal ,he started for state as a freshman and he will have this years camp as the number2 and he will get reps in blowouts/qb run packages ,then all off season ,spring,and fall camp as the number 1.

2027 is the qb class thats absolutely loaded in state.
I think van Buren will bridge the gap between next year and whichever qb/qbs we get in next years class.

Don't sleep on ju'juan Johnson. Coach Sloan said he's the most electric guy on offense and he's the only other qb with a whole package built for him in both short yardage and redzone opportunities. This staff is doing everything they can to make the running game more creative and keep nuss from taking too many unneeded hits. Let those plays be successful and you might see him featured in those blowout games before MVB. My guess is MVB gets a redshirt while JJJ gets a more involved chance at the qb position. He can sling it too so defenses can't start cheating up because we have the speed at wr to beat them deep. 2026 is gonna be a great competition.

Unless he has made some leap, which he may have, he is not the guy you want as your QB in SEC games. I think it's Hurley or Van Buren.

Hurley will only be 18 throughout the 2025 season. He'll be 19 next year with two years behind him without much playing time. Hard to say if he'll be in the mix or not for 2026. Hope he is tho.

Or Walker Howard or Rickie Collins. All other schools are LSU's farm system.
Really though, Hurley. I love his maturity, makeup and especially his arm. 3rd year doesn't hurt either.

I think it depends on how Van Buren or Hurley plays in backup situations this season, and in practice of course. If they feel like they can roll with one of these, they will. If not, they will look for a portal QB. I think it also depends on who gets in the portal as well.

Kelly needs to play his back up qb whenever possible. In the past he’s been reluctant to do so.

I think that’s the play as well. If MVB impresses this year, then it could change plans.
