Can anyone recommend a good WiFi/smart home thermostat?

For a good price?
Would like one that you can control from your phone.

We use ecobee and I like them a lot, my inlaws all use nest and I don't like them. I bought sensors for rooms to tell if they're occupied and set schedules based on our schedules. Pretty easy to work with and no real learning curve.

Ecobee was better between that and the Nest. The remote temperature sensor is particularly helpful if you have a room in your house that gets warmer than the others (usually upstairs.)

I have a nest(x2) and several temperature sensors and have never had an issue.
With that said, seems that most these days including the hvac people tend to recommend ecobee.

Check with your utility company. They often will give you a smart thermostat for free or reduced cost.

I have 3 Sensi WiFi thermostats in 2 houses. They are reliable and give you lots of data feedback. I got them FREE from Entergy

Timely thread. I just got an email from Google stating that they will not support one of my thermostats anymore. But good news, they'll sell me a new one.
Just scrolled through home depot's website and Sensi wifi looks decent.

I have one of these Sensi thermostats in my rental. It has been extremely reliable and simple.

You need to decide whether you want a simply a Wi-Fi thermostat or a smart thermostat. I installed one a while back and got rebates from both my power company and gas company (Entergy and Atmos Energy).

Just don’t get a Nest, ever.
Google will just remotely delete all of your features in 8 years and make it where your app doesn’t work and your thermostats can’t even talk to each other. To top it off, they’ll lock up the interface so neither you nor any third party can ever get those features back even if you code them yourself.
Ecobee seems to be the best with third party support options so you can still have a smart thermostat even if they go under or decide not to support your model anymore.

If you’ve had them at least 9 years(v1 or v2) you’re about to have some HUGE problems come October 25.

Love the temp sensors. You can move them anywhere in the house.
I’ve liked Nest. We have two also.. had them since 2017 with zero issues

I installed a Sensi a couple days ago and I've found my cycle times to be very short. Approx 5 min on/ 5 min off. I put the old nest back on and my times are approx 15 on/15 off. I adjusted the cycle time in the app to slow and I'm not sure anything changed. Have any of you noticed really short cycle times with Sensi.

Been pretty happy with these. The wife loves using the built in Alexa as a kitchen timer etc.

The con is the "smart" part. What is wrong with good, reliable t-stats that do the job correctly and save you $?

I have ecobee and am pleased. I bought it on my own then applied to entergy for a rebate. I was very hesitant to get one directly from entergy since I remember a story out of Colorado where utility customers were locked out of making adjustments during peak demand times.

I echo using the Echo. We have several with each having two remote sensors for the bedrooms. Works great. Can control them from anywhere. Easy to install and they have exceptional customer support if you run into any issues with setup.
