Which player was the worst signing ever? I’ve got 3

1. Eric Gordon

2. James Posey

3. Solomon Hill

Agree/Disagree? Who do you think was the worst Pelicans signing ever?

Ryan Anderson. Made no sense with Davis playing the same position and they couldn't play together. We tried to force it with Davis refusing to play Center. A super frustrating situation and resources we could have been dedicated elsewhere.

People always focus on Zion as this generational talent. But Davis always had greater potential that he has squandered more than any player I've ever seen, outside of Shaq. Davis should have 3-4 rings and multiple MVPs by now. I'll never get over how we wasted his time in NO..

At least the others had benefit of hindsight. This was a terrible signing of a zero impact player at the time.

That's not even the worst signing for that era.

I think ill always say this one because it was the signing that was supposed to put us over the top on that championship level team and ended up being the beginning of the end.

If we sign someone else that works out instead who knows what becomes of that squad and this franchise.

I can't stand lemonhead, but that was not a bad signing at all. He was a good rookie that deserved his contract. Any front office makes that signing.

Posey wasn't a bad signing. He was brought in to play a role that he already played, and played it well, and it just didn't work out. It was a good move by our front office that didn't work out.

Solomon Hill contract was a gross overpay, much like so many that summer across the nba. I'll give it a pass simply b/c everyone did it that summer.

trading for Steven Adams and giving him an extension immediately wasn't smart.
trading for JV and giving him an extension immediately wasn't smart.
And i like both of those players, but neither of them fit with Zion, which is why the immediate extensions were so dumb.

The worst signing was using a 1st round pick to sign Devonte Graham for 4 years, when it wasn't necessary to give up anything to get him.
It was stupid to give up the 1st, and it was stupid to give him 4 years.

#1 right here

In 2015 we gave him a 5 year / $60 extension contract on top of a 1yr/$15m (2014-15) from houston which we paid a 1st round pick for. AFTER we knew he wasn't going to work.

Then in Feb 2018 we gave away another 1st to get rid of him to the Bulls - but immediately after that he got some disease which forced his retirement and the Bulls got salary cap relief.

You should edit the list - this was garbage.

Peja for me because I felt that amount of money hurt us from achieving what we should have with Paul.

You need to lose your Pelican fandom for this dumb one.
Peja was and still is the best FA signing we have ever made as an organization. He was extremely critical to our success back then, and yes we were successful with CP3/West/Peja/Chandler, just short lived success b/c of a dumbass owner.

That 2nd Omer Asik contract was the thing I was most dumbfounded by when I saw the headline. Dude was a massive disappointment and then we paid him.

Eric Gordon. Him signing with PHX and then us matching it was hell. Didn’t Omer got diagnosed with Crohn disease and bacteria infection when he was with us?

so many dumb takes in this thread completely lacking context

-eric gordon - was the centerpiece of the CP3 trade and a rising talent. his first game with the hornets he hit a game winner and showed stud talent. you absolutely match the offer the suns gave him at the time, whether he is malcontent or not.

-ryan anderson - just lol. got the MIPOY for gustavo ayon. guy did nothing but rain 3's in his tenure here.

-peja - major lol. the dude who elevated the hornets to actually be contenders was a dumb signing.

The answer to the OP's question is the awful cap explosion summer where we signed solomon hill, omer asik, and ajincia all to inflated contacts

FA signing? Hill is up there.

Ugly contract for a guy meant to fill a role he couldn’t pull off.

I don’t like the Tyreke Evans sign and trade between Tyreke’s awkward fit due to shooting and the fact it lost us Grevis Vasquez and Robin Lopez in the process, the latter of which caused us problems with finding a big man the rest of the AD era.

This was the one that made me realize that most NBA players look at New Orleans as the chance get that bag and then check out completely

Even with several straight years of playoff appearances, Chris Paul on the roster, etc., it was suddenly very obvious that we were the Liberty Flames of the college football playoff

Solomon Hill was bad. It was a desperation signing because we struck out with everyone that off season.

But the Asik deal was quite a bit worse.
