1st dove hunt of the year and jalapeño poppers is up there for me. Then probably a good steak.
We grill a lot because it’s easier so we don’t do a lot of stuff that takes a while to cook.

I always like to try and cook something that’s not bought, but caught or shot. Trout almandine is hard to beat at the fishing camp

Same for me, for the most part. No fish camp, as I live where I typically fish, but always enjoy cooking seafood at hunting camp in the delta. Most of them don't get to eat it as often as we do at home. Whatever fresh fish I have that time of year (usually trout, tripletail, cobia, sheepshead cakes later in the season for sure) in whatever method we feel like having. Tripletail almondine is one of my all time favorite meals...Grilled oysters or boiled shrimp are always good.
Of course, it's hard to beat some grilled duck breasts or backstrap the weekend of killing them. If we're buying something to cook, usually steaks/baked potatoes/sausage/veg or burgers if going easy.

I like shrimp stew no matter the time of the year.
Also, I’m not going to make it down there this weekend.

A good steak and then either fresh deer or duck that was killed.
Normally at the duck camp one night we cook some duck la orange

I’m headed down to the marsh to look at a particular piece to purchase and I’m pot roasting teal ducks and I’m going to stew down some okra and top it off with a handful of big shrimp. Wash it down with a number of white cans.

Most dinners at the hunting camp will be cooked over an open fire. The weather is the only thing that changes the way we cook.

To make a great meal, and simple, I always do a blue runner red beans with deer sausage, rice, and jiffy cornbread. Gotta gotta gotta have the corn bread!
I’ll dress them up and add some trappy whole red beans to them.

Man drunk chicken and smothered potatoes reminds me of the good old days at the hunting camp with my dad and grandpa.
