Chinese pogie boats in Fourchon near Belle Pass are out of control.

Tommy Vidrine used to make videos about these pieces of shite scooping up everything in the gulf.

I'll wait for Roger to tell me why it's actually socialism.

Why is Louisiana allowing this inside state waters?

That would be a huge win! Make speckled trout and redfish populations great again.

I think they changed the law in 2024 and they have to be a half a mile offshore to pogie fish now. That has already helped a little but they still kill a lot of non-target species and screw up the food chain.

So what does Louisiana benefit from by allowing any fishing of menhaden by Canadian companies? Why not let the companies with plants in Cameron parish have exclusive rights? Or develop a LA menhaden fishery business.

They make very large contributions to the governor (more than $200k) and also some Louisiana Natural Resources Committee members.

I've seen the cost of live bait from Venice to Gulf shores to Pensacola and have heard it's even worse the farther you go south into FL.

And can we get this current administration to maybe look into doing something about the shark overpopulation in the Gulf? I'm sure there are some fisherman that know better than me, but I know people who often have to completely stop fishing offshore because they are basically just hooking big grouper and snapper and AJs just to give the sharks an easy meal.

I don't know.

But a year ago Louisiana did change the laws. I don't know what is happening in VA.

The buffer zone along the LA coast may be enough for the pogie fisherman and recreational fisherman to co-exists.

I think I'm going to send a message to Cassidy, Kennedy, Letlow, and Mike Johnson to get rid of these boats. I've seen their damage and we can't seem to do anything at a state level so let's work on the feds

I'm from the other end of the state and didn't really know much about this, but sounds like some corrupt Louisiana politicians must've been paid off in order to allow this to happen.

Why else would 2 states allow this to happen?
