Some cocksucker busted out my back drivers side window and stole a gym bag full of sweaty clothes. Of course, it’s a holiday and no where is open so I’m going full ghetto and putting some cardboard on my window seal. Can I put duct on the paint of my truck for a day or so or will it frick the paint up?

Couldn’t have happened to a better person, I know so just give me the answer.

Happy 4th baws!

You can put duct tape damn near anywhere.

Taking it off might cause issues but that isn’t what you asked.

It would leave residue when you pull it off, but rubbing alcohol can help remove the duct tape glue.

If your car has a clear coat, the alcohol may hurt it, though.

You can, but leaving it on for a long time out in the sun will cause issues with removal of the duct tape and it will probably leave sticky residue on your paint. That residue can easily be removed with WD 40 or a product like goo gone. If you're talking
like only till Monday, shouldn't be an issue.

Ford f150, just don’t want to frick the paint up. I’ll clean the residue off if that’s it tomorrow when I get it replaced.

Or if it’ll frick it up I’ll go buy some painters tape, I just don’t have any

Yup. Before we convinced our mom to give up her DL, she'd whack the gate coming in, sometimes a parking pole in front of the grocery store and occasional ditch which generally messed up the front end of her car. No other cars or humans though.

We didn't want to report it to the insurance company so we bought a roll of white duct tape and patched up the plastic grill, headlight holder, and fog lights.

She's given up her license but still cruises the acreage and managed to hit a pear tree before she gave up completely last year

The car has been sitting in the garage for a year now and the tape is still on there.

No.

If you can find a Safe-Lite or glass company thats open, they'll have that film you can use.

Otherwise, get the wide, blue painter's tape and use rhat.

I’m smart enough to know what I don’t know. I knew painters tape would be fine, but I have the red arse and don’t want to go buy any if I don’t have to.

Also got a big arse knot in my tire this week and bought new tires. So I’m going to drop a bag between new shoes and a new window. Love it

Yes of course you can. And with the cleanup products out there you can get it all off with no impact to your paint / clearcoat.
