You might have heard that LIV Golf is coming to New Orleans.

If you haven’t, you will soon.

In the weeks ahead, state officials are expected to announce that New Orleans will be one of five U.S. stops on the 2026 LIV schedule.

A 2026 LIV schedule leaked to Sports Business Journal this week showed New Orleans, along with South Africa, as one of two new stops on the tour. The schedule is still being finalized, but the New Orleans tournament is tentatively scheduled for June 26-28 at Bayou Oaks golf course in City Park.

Louisiana is paying LIV a $5 million hosting fee and putting another $2 million into renovating the course.

My initial thought was wtf, but then saw that this money is set aside for these types of things every year.

The $7 million Louisiana is putting toward the LIV golf tournament comes from the state’s major events incentive fund, which provides public funding for large tourist attractions. In the past, it has been used to lure the Super Bowl, Essence Festival and NCAA Final Four for men’s basketball to Louisiana.

I didn’t see the outrage when the state spent $5M to bring a bowling tournament to New Orleans

You should probably still say wtf because I think LIV pays other locales to host. Nola is the only one that is paying LIV to come

That’s not true at all. They definitely get paid by other countries for their international events. Not sure about the events in Indy/Detroit

LOL. Will be 90 degrees in the shade with feels like temps of 110 in the sun. Chance of rain every single day.

Come down here Jan-April or in the fall.

Now this is what I was wondering

Didn't see how they could host a pro tournament in its present state

Makes more sense

I'll be interested to see those improvements and what is done to maintain thereafter

It has been 100 (feels like) multiple times in the last month. It will be brutal on the course. Can’t think of a worse time to try and get people to spend hours outside.

The PGA Championship is going to be in Dallas in a couple of weeks on the calendar before this event.

The PGA Championship is in Frisco in 2027. It will also be almost a month and a half before the time frame of this NOLA event. Mid may in Dallas shouldn't be too bad.
