Cruising for snakes in West Texas and we ran across a mountain lion on the side of the road. Hopped out to get a video as any sane person would. We didn’t notice the fence behind the bushes - and apparently neither did the mountain lion - but after a brief bout of confusion it was able to hurdle the fence and steal away into the night.

That was Saturday night. Last night we got to play with a porcupine.

And a mottled rock rattlesnake…

And a Trans-Pecos copperhead…

And we got the big prize - Lampropeltis alterna, the coveted Gray-banded kingsnake!

I’d rather fight a grizzly bear with a pocket knife.

Out of everything you've ever posted, the porcupine is the first one where I'm just thinking a complete nah frick that

Probably my misunderstanding of the animal but one of those things demolished Chance on Homeward Bound and I know better!

How the shite did you convince the porcupine to let you pick him up?

Also that last snake is awesome looking.

I fricking enjoy your posts, man.

That said, you were a hair away from getting gored if that cat felt like it had nowhere it could truly go…

Had one slip up on my dog and I one morning in New Mexico after setting decoys. Was about half asleep in the layout blind, about half an hour before shooting time, when my otherwise calm and cool lab started growling with a sound she had never made before or since. I thought it was a range cow, which can be pretty mean, and whipped around and shined a light right in its face about 50 feet away. Dog took off after it but the cat was gone in flash and the dog ran about halfway to where the cat was and turned around and said "I ran that fricker off, it knew better than to frick around". I think that cat had no idea we were there...wind behind us and it, like I said we were both almost asleep so we were about as quite as one can be and hidden in a layout blind.....I suspect that cat was about as shocked as I was. A little unnerving if I'm being honest....

I thought that mountain lion was stuck in a trap at first.

You have balls the size of King Kong
