National Championships in last 20 years:

SEC - 14
Big 10 - 3
ACC - 3

Anytime I listen to XM channel 84 or ESPN, they always say "The SEC and Big 10" are wanting different things than ACC, B12, or the SEC and Big 10 are more talented than ACC, B12. SEC has nearly 500% of the nati's last 20 years as Big 10. Big 10 is a lot closer to ACC than the SEC. Not a big fan of how the 2 conferences are always lumped together signifying that they are equal. SEC is like 64-45 vs Big 10 in last 15 years. I'm unsure if that stat adjusted for the new teams as part of the record, or just teams at the time.

Who cares.

College football in a traditional sense is dead.

College football seems more popular than ever. Yeah NIL and rev share are happening. Not sure if rev shares cancels out NIL, but in terms of popularity, I think college football is bigger than ever. Same for college baseball.

I said in a “traditional sense”.

Also if the SEC doesn’t want other conferences discussed, then when ALL the championships.

It sucks. No program building. Just pay for your roster these days. A kid can come in and have one good year and be out the door to another school with 0 recourse for school A.

But is it viable for the long term? How many programs are generating enough revenue to be successful under this?

The B1G has a larger population base and tons of money. They are equals in terms of influence and power. We didn’t get even the BCS let alone any playoff without the B1G.

20 years is ancient history in the current football landscape. The big 10 has the last two national championships, and the SEC has not had a team in the title game in the last two years.

I do agree that the SEC is still a better conference top to bottom, but the real difference comes in with the lower half of the conference. The top Big10 and SEC teams are fairly comparable IMO, but the SEC teams have a harder path, typically.

College sports is at a all time high, but the athletes couldn’t care less about their team…just straight cash

Why on Earth would you go back 20 years None of the incoming freshmen or returning sophomores were alive for that.

The better comparison points are last five years (showing recent trends) and last ten years (historical trends).

In the past five years, the SEC and Big Ten split five titles 3-2. No one else won any. Four different teams won them. They’re also making similar money, which directly translates to talent via NIL. No one else is even close.

In the past ten years, yea, the SEC was more dominant, winning 6-2-2 and with three different title winners. Big Ten numbers stay the same. ACC adds Clemson. But the only real change here is adding in Alabama’s and Clemson’s dynasties, which are both dead now and have no meaningful impact on the future of the game, and LSU’s literal all-time GOAT title run that we’ll never see the likes of ever again.

The future is now, old man

Who cares about number of chips. Both have equal negotiating power at these network conglomerate meetings in 2025.
It isn’t 2010 anymore.

You could reasonably argue that the B1G and SEC are fairly equal at the top. But the SEC is way deeper.

I think its 8 different SEC teams that have a national title in the BCS or CFP era. B1G only has 3 team i think in that span.

Ya think Indiana would beat a team from the SEC that missed tbe playoffs? Bama, LSU, or Ole Miss would've beaten them by 3 tds. Espn is so enamored with the Cinderella nonsense. Expanding the playoffs is going to make it worse. Plenty of teams that will get in will get hammered , especially playing in front of 100k fans.

What relevance does that have to do with talking heads talking about the Big 2???

Its a new world, about money, size, eyeballs and TV contracts...there's two big dogs in the landscape (prob should just merge and form their own system/league exclusive).

Pom-pom, pajama wearing days of caping/ bandwagonning for your favorite Conference are over. Why don't you try rooting for a team for once.
