Here is mine, and im not sure why it aggravates me.

People that say, ( for example ) " 95 degrees and 100 percent humidity".

Isnt it common knowledge that max humidity is only in the morning when the temps are the lowest?

This is a crude table but Heat indexes in BR havent been past 120 in the last many years have they?

We gotta “sure up” the offensive line.

It’s shore up. Navy ships use shoring to provide support for a bulkhead that is about to collapse from battle damage.

Don’t think people are being literal when they say that. It’s saying “it’s hot and humid”. Hyperbole.

When someone uses the word done out of context.
They done bought it all.
Let’s all pitch in like we done last year.

I know it’s a Southern thing but I hear intelligent people sound very hick when they misuse the “done” thing.

Somehow this did/done thing went off the rails.
Like nails on a chalkboard.

I disagree. I think at least 80% of people are serious.

Every year I have to correct bullshite that elementary teachers have told my students.
Louisiana is not named after Louis and his wife Anna.
Washington was the first president, not John Hanson (who was also not black).
Lincoln was not black.

When people say they need a new “hot water heater” why would you need to heat hot water.

1. "Jive" e.g. "That doesn't jive with what I know." The word is "jibe."

2."Trope." A trope is just a figure of speech. What they really mean is "cliche."

3. "Gaslight." A REALLY big one lately. Gaslighting is the deliberate, sustained attempt to make someone think they are losing their minds. It's not just lying. It INVOLVES lying but is not simply lying.

4. "Comparing apples to oranges." It's perfectly possible to compare apples to oranges. Differences are REQUIRED for comparison.

5. "Hate on." It's just "hate." You hate something or someone. Adding "on" is unecessary and silly.
