Any suggestions for lunch in Natchitoches?

Working up here today and trying to figure out what to do for lunch. TIA.

I enjoy Lasyone's, but I love the meat pies and the old school atmosphere.

Ate at Mayeaux's on Front St in November and was not impressed. I had soft shell crabs that were greasy. The crust mostly fell off. I can't recall what the others had, but a lot of food was left on the plates. I think the Natchitoches folks really like it, though.

Don't forget to get Natchitoches red beans and rice - puts that New Orleans slop style to shame.

Good observation! I agree with this also. I tend to do the same thing there. It's a nice package.

I eat at Lasyone's every chance I get, solid meat pies. You can even buy them frozen to take home

We do too. We have some in the freezer now. Had several of them last month.

I won't downvote people for what they like, but I found this place to be a joke. The food was bland. The meat pies were tasteless, the friend green beans they are known for were also tasteless. The red beans and rice tasted like a can of kidney beans poured over wet rice. I don't even remember all of the other stuff we ate there, but if you are from South Louisiana you won't find this place to your liking. I guess we should have gone to the Italian place on the waterfront.

I had a burger that was legit. Not like a destination burger or anything but it was pretty damn good.

I also suggest making the short drive to Grayson's Barbecue in Clarence

Ate there last weekend, and nothing was bland at all.

I lived in Natch for the past 2 years. Have tried about every place you can think of. Best places are Sweeties (get the ribs and bread pudding), Cane River Commissary, and Mayeuxs (red fish cocadrie is really good). There are some other decent places but those 3 are ones I could eat at frequently. Also, stop by Cane River Kitchenware and grab a brookie.

Awful opinion. It's a fine lunch spot. As is Mayeaux's.
