These are the Ball brothers — you may heard of them before — and this was a high school basketball game back in 2016.

One of the most prolific high school sports programs in the country coming off of a national championship just two years prior, against a public school with a 14-year-old starting at SG.

And this was the actual score of this game...

...at halftime.

Somehow, these three brothers and their two friends absolutely walked one of the best teams in the entire country, en route to a 35–0 record that season.

(To be clear, I am not a LaVar Ball fan personally, but this story is pretty incredible, even if you only casually follow hoops.)

Is this a typo? Or some new slang I haven’t figured out?

Lavar deserves his own version of "King Richard". Not a major motion picture but like a Tubi original.

That should be reserved for Temu-Lavar: Jamie Newman

Two years might as well be an eternity in high school athletics.

Also, that score at halftime probably happens a dozen times across the country on any given night of HS basketball.

I believe OP somehow typed "sold" instead of "lost."

It's not really surprising that a team with 2 future lottery picks and another NBA player was awesome in HS.

damn this is crazy that a team with 3 future NBA starters including possibly the best player in the country beat a team with dudes that none of us have ever heard of. i would have never guessed.

Sorry, I tried several times to word this within the character limit, and I obviously failed miserably.

Sold is slang for lost.
quote:

In sports slang, "sold" generally means to fail, underperform, or make a mistake, especially when a positive outcome was within reach

14-yo SG means fourteen-year-old shooting guard, which is one of the positions in basketball.
quote:

A shooting guard (SG), also known as the "two" or "off guard", is one of the five traditional positions in basketball. Their primary role is to score points, particularly from long-range shots like three-pointers and mid-range jumpers.

My bad everyone. I don't usually post over here, but I just thought it was something interesting.

The only think Lavar Ball has in common with Richard Williams is both have a big outspoken mouth. There is zero, absolutely zero comparison in what Richard Williams accomplished with Venus and Serena and what Lavar has with his sons.

Venus and Serena are all time greats, the Balls, are just mid NBA players.

A high school team with 3 future pro players beating anybody is not an upset.
