Cox vs AT&T Fiber in NOLA

Just got informed that AT&T Fiber is now being offered in my neighborhood in NOLA. Currently paying $86 for cox internet only as we stream everything. Is it worth switching to AT&T? Anyone know the ball park price for AT&T?

You can get good deals for switching to ATT fiber.
Cox sucks.
When I switched to Fiber I was received a ring doorbell and and camera, $50or $100 visa gift card. Also, Fiber monthly costs was around $50-$60.

It just depends. If you are in a good at&t fiber area, you'll love the improvement. If you are in an area that at&t fiber is currently experiencing tons of issues, you'll hate it more than cox.
Regardless, there is no contract with at&t. So why not try it?
Typically prices are $55 for 300Mbps, $65 for 500Mbps and $70 for 1Gbps.

At&t 1G symmetrical fiber = $73/month on the westbank.
Edit: 8+ years and not a single outage (even during extended hurricane recovery periods it stayed up)

AT&T Fiber is not available at my friend's condo address either

Yes - do it. Did it 2 years ago in Metry. Got tired of Cox's outages and bumping the bill with no notice.

Apparently neither will Broadmoor.

I guess I'm lucky att needed 3 bucket trucks to string the wire down the private road to our house and didn't charge me a penny to do it
I couldn't believe it was available at my house and until the guy connected the modem I was still convinced it wasn't going to happen.
Zero complaints. I had Comcast for 20+ years before this and I hated every minute of it. So happy I moved somewhere with fiber.
ETA tree branch fell in the winter and snapped the cable right off the pole in the middle of my yard and they even came out and ran a new line for free.

I’m happy with ATT Fiber.
Big benefit of ATT Fiber over Cox is that ATT has no data caps if you’re a power user (streaming 4K video, downloading large files etc)

also, they tend to put their best service guys on fiber. not any old Tom Dick Harry can troubleshoot fiber so the folks that fix it are generally a lot better and take pride in making sure they are back up as soon as possible. I have found that to be the case anyway.
And it doesn't go down nearly as much so the fiber guys are never as busy.

Does anyone know know if I switch to ATT, can I still utilize my cox login to apps? ESPN, MAX, FS1 etc.

If you still have a COX TV subscription, they should work.

We're in BR but we switched from Cox to AT&T fiber about 2 years ago.
No regrets. I only wish we'd done it sooner as we've had the option for about 5 years. I think we pay $70//mo for 500 Mbps which is plenty for us. I was paying $95 for 250Mbps with Cox when we left.

AT&T fiber is now available on my street. I work from home and have 2 kids. My cox internet was $184 last month. We had overages. I can’t stsndxAT&T but $100 a month difference iscenough to make me switch. I called cox about getting free unlimited and they told me no. Told them I was probably switching and they didn’t seem to care. I have been with them for 22 years.

Ever since cox switched my cable box a cpl yrs ago (I think the new box /service is more or less internet based) I’ve had terrible issues with the screen going in/out especially during big sporting events. It was awful during the Super Bowl. I may give the fiber a shot….i also feel when we have cold snaps the wifi becomes completely unreliable. I don’t know if it still stands, but I think you can get a Costco gift card if you switch there.

Just placed my order with ATT and they will be here on Monday. rakuten Has a $40 cash back on signup if you use them. Can’t wait to call Cox and tell them to shut their shite off. I own my cable modem so don’t have to return anything.
