Man tries to marry 9 year old at Disneyland Paris

The media reported en masse that a "British man" tried to marry a nine-year-old girl at the Sleeping Beauty castle inside Disneyland Paris.

The bride in the staged event was a terrified nine-year-old Ukrainian girl in a wedding dress with high heels taped to her feet.

The 300 guests — who had been hired via online advertisements to witness the event — were mortified.

"Jhaj" means "ship" in Hindi and is historically associated with river boat traders in the province of Punjab. The name "Jaskarn," meanwhile, is a common given name among followers of the Sikh religion, which is from Punjab. It can roughly mean "one who is worthy of praise," or "famous deed-doer."

The park officials were told the whole thing was for a social media video, not an actual wedding, but apparently that didn't check out because four people ended up arrested by the French police: the would-be groom, the girl's Ukrainian mother, and two Latvian nationals.

Jhaj was wearing a disguise that had been "professionally made up in order to display a totally different face from his," according to the prosecutor's office.

The reason? Well, it turns out he was a wanted felon.

[The groom] is understood to be a known paedophile on the run from UK police…‘He is registered on the British sex offenders register and is currently wanted at the national level by the judicial authorities of his country of origin,' a statement explained.

‘[He is wanted] For failing to comply with the obligations arising from said registration.'

A medical examination of the "bride" showed that she had not been harmed in any way. But because there was no harm done to the girl, the French aren't charging the "British man" with pedophilia or child abuse, just fraud.
