Only Schoen with Giants ranked worse.
Most of us know this already, but you have to question Gayle how this bum remains employed over 15 years on the job and this shitty a roster.

You must have a Loomis alert on your search engine of choice

Part of their rationale for having him 31st is a little contradictory for having him so low. If you are putting the “credit” to Payton for the roster when he was with the team; then you also have to give him the credit for how thin the roster was and for the shape of the cap when he left. Loomis digs a much bigger hole with a few of the moves after Payton left (Carr being the biggest blunder), but he was working with a crap roster and cap hell at the same time. So either Payton played a major role in that, or Loomis gets credit for building a SB contending roster all those years under Payton

At 31, he is too high.

And the knowledgable posters have been shite on for years for questioning their draft picks and fa signings…

‘These guys do this for a living, you don’t know shite’

Loomis in his own mind thinks he's so close. God dAMN that man. But he's probably acting like all the other the other GM's o\ the world.

difference is he trusted in Derek Carr and Dennis Allen right after Payton-Breea left.

frick off for that Mickey.

frick off.

His ego and utter lack of self-awareness should have him no higher than 32 regardless of the roster, and even potential future success (should it ever return) on the field for that matter.

Gayle’s management skilz are to hope the folks that were on watch when Tom died stay in their jobs.

She has no concept of accountability or how to improve an organization.

She’s simply a caretaker owner.

Payton saw this, it’s part of the reason he left.

Organizations don’t stay at the same level; they’re either improving or declining. The Saints and Pelicans are steadily and surely declining over her watch. Zero accountability of Dennis and Mickey. Lifetime employment guaranteed as long as they aren’t caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy.

Mickey will be in the HOF as a GM based on his longevity, winning percentage, Superbowl win, and his unorthodox approach to staying competitive in the salary cap era. We can hate on him all we want, but he will be the greatest GM that the Saints have ever or will ever have. Now, I do think the game has passed him by, which is why he should have assumed a Rich McKay type role with team and let Ireland or Khai take over as the GM.

You get the sense that Sean Payton was truly the one calling all the shots for the New Orleans Saints

well yeah....most knew that but in recent years its become painfully clear. Unfortunately, Mickey is on a quest to prove all of those people wrong

I have it on good authority that
quote:

Mickey Loomis, the GM of the Saints, no matter what anybody says, does a hell of a job.

based on what criteria has he done a hell of a job since SP/Brees left?

Drafts? Not really
FA signings? God no
Cap management? Ah just don't start
Coaching hires? Well hired a loser, wanted to stick with said loser, and still defends the loser. TBD on the replacement.

We can agree those are by and large the things GMs are are judged by and he's been mostly shite at all of them since losing his HOF QB and HC. I just do not understand the people that still want to carry water for Mickey.

These are the fans who spend tens of thousands annually on season tickets keys and desperately want to believe there is a plan in place for them to enjoy their investment this fall.

Putting Mickey is the best in writing here and especially Saints Report helps them cope with the reality of 15 plus years in the job and we have the worst roster in the NFL. At this stage it’s not Mickey’s fault it’s his incompetent enabler owner Gayle.

It’s not a coincidence both teams are among the worst in sports, it’s now a pattern bordering on in perpetuity.

I don't want to name drop, but let's just say I heard it from an insider who is familiar with the situation.

Or they could be fans like you that don't go to games or spend money and just sit around and cry like a lil bitch.

Zero accountability of Dennis

Not sure you can say this part about Gayle with a straight face. She actually went around Mickey and started talking to the players, then forced him to fire Dennis. IMO, that should have ended Loomis' career here as well, but I can see an argument for giving him 1 more opportunity at a new HC. But, if Moore does not produce results within 3 years*, Loomis should be shown the door before Moore.

*I don't think anyone expects much of the roster in 2025. If roster management is handled properly, 2026 should be the year that a lot of these older bloated contracts fall off.

2027 should allow for a damn near full reset. No current dead money on 2027 books. Currently $140M under the cap. Only voided contracts hitting that year are AK, Shephard, Cooks, Godchaux for a total of $16M. 35 players under contract, including only 8 that won't be on rookie deals
