Anyone else notice Milam was kinda lazy out the box in some key moments?

Can’t complain too much because it all worked out, but a few times balls fell or the wrong play was made Milam didn’t get to the extra base or didn’t even make it a challenge.

I could just hear my little league coaches yelling for him to run out the box.

Again can’t complain too much. But just watch a few plays. I know he’s faster than that.

The aloy miss he didn’t sprint. The dropped ball he hit yesterday coulda have been a double for sure if he ran all out.

Correctamundo for both hits. Luckily, neither mattered, but you're right about the surprising lack of hustle on both plays.

I didn’t make a thread on it but his “I just hit into a double play to lose the game” attitude on his “I feel sorry for myself” half assed jog down to first has been bugging the shite out of me.

At least try to beat the double play. Third baseman probably could’ve had a play at first after getting the out at third.

Yeah he definitely lacked some hustle there

We ever figure out what happened with Curiel Saturday on the dropped strike 3? Did he think he fouled it?

Very lazy in a game of that magnitude

I think Milam had an undisclosed lower extremity injury. He wasn't moving as well the last few weeks of the season.

Yes. I made this point in another thread.

He was pointing to his bat as if he had tipped it. Ump disagreed.

I noticed it, and given the moment, I just assumed that he has some lower body injury he was playing through that we will never know about.

Milam wasn't the only one. Jones should've been at 2nd when the third baseman missed the ball in the 2nd. Brown could have scored on the dropped pop up, he at least could have forced the throw home. Water under the bridge because all of these players have done more than enough to show their commitment to this team. But Jay will point it out, I know it

No, he could not. That's 90 yards plus the extra steps rounding the bases b/t 1st & home. It's obvious he wasn't going full speed until he hit second, but he wasn't walking either. They had the ball ready to throw before he reached third. They would have gotten him at home even if he sprinted the whole time.

Yes, I thought the same…especially on that potential game-ending double play ball…one other time he should have been on second but was barely running out the box.

You know Jay will have a sit down with video footage before next season and straighten this out. Milam wants to be great and just needs a little coaching.

He was half arse running and easily made it to third...the ball hung up in the air over 5 seconds and then the drop and pick it up cost another couple seconds...plus he had a lead off first and was going on contact....he is also one of if not the fastest player on the team....he most definitely had a real shot minus an absolute perfect strike home....even announcer said same thing...but ok

Oh and they had the ball before he reached third because he was going through the motions and not sprinting. You are wrong.

Absolutely.

That's what makes the fact the Arkansas SS didn't think for a second to attempt to turn the DP even more incredible. Even if he was hustling there was a good chance Arkansas turns the DP. But Milam had basically conceded the out and, in effect, the game, as soon as he saw where the ball was hit...and Arkansas simply didn't take it. That would drive me crazy as an Arkansas fan. LSU was literally willing to give them the win and they still lost!

Milam usually always hustles. Curiel might be the only other guy who tries to steal extra bases every chance he gets. Yesterday was definitely uncharacteristic of him

I noticed that and commented to my wife - Coach should be up his tail on those - good thing we didn't need it this time.
Sorta disappointed in him - but overall he has exceeded the expectations I had for him at SS - thought he was too short.
He has been a huge positive all year.

Yep, I noticed. It should've been an easy pop out for CCU, Milam half-assed it to first. I told my wife with two outs; I would've been at third eating sunflower seeds by the time he dropped that ball, but they won, so, it's all good in my books.
