As the best coach at LSU, he absolutely should get one.

maybe, but he strikes me as the type so hungry to win he may want to use those funds elsewhere to go after #9

Maybe he can convince Woody to reconfigure the revenue sharing percentages to get baseball a bigger cut in lieu of a personal raise.

Yes, he will get a raise, as does every coach after a national championship.

Lsu has so many private donations for baseball, big part of the reason for the revenue sharing allocation for them

Yes I think he’s 5 or 6 in pay in SEC today. O’Connor reset the market at 3 mil and I think Jay’s raise will match it

Only raise LSU baseball needs is a roof to extend covered concourse down the bleachers.

Should be highest paid in college baseball. Results matter. Plain and simple.

I'm not saying he shouldnt, but adding another mil+ to his contract per year will certainly put a lot of pressure on baseball staying in the black each year, not that we probably really care that much since every other sport is in the red here besides football and basketball (like just about anywhere).
Mainieri made $1.1M back in 2021 in his last season
Johnson currentlt at $1.7M I think base
Talking about $3M/yr base now
That's some pretty quick escalation in this sport

I would expect Woodward to get his raise handled before they start Fall Ball.

Jury is still out on Jay Orgeron.
Yeah he’s won 2 titles but he still had Mainieri recruits on the 2025 team.
If NIL didn’t exist, this roster would look a lot different.
If he didn’t have Anderson and Eyanson, the pitching staff would be terrible.
If he didn’t have Lipsey’s money, there would be no stars on the roster.
Yeah there are good players, but there are no star players
Just sharing some words of wisdom from our fallen poster burreauxxx

His contract should be renegotiated and be the highest paid coach. He's worth every penny.
Here are the top 10:
1) Tony Vitello – Tennessee ($3.00M)
Vitello led Tennessee to its first national championship in 2024, completing a 60-13 season. His passion and recruiting skills have transformed the Vols into a powerhouse, earning him the most lucrative contract in college baseball ever.
2) Tim Corbin – Vanderbilt ($2.45M)
Corbin, a two-time national champion (in 2014 and 2019), transformed Vanderbilt into a consistent contender. He is the longest-tenured coach on this list and has a prominent role in modern collegiate baseball, with a reputation for developing MLB talent.
3) Kevin O’Sullivan – Florida ($1.84M)
O’Sullivan guided the Gators to a national championship in 2017 and another runner-up finish in 2023. He constantly fields elite teams and is one of the best recruiters in the country.
4) Tim Tadlock – Texas Tech ($1.83M) Currently, 8-10, 12-23
Tadlock transformed the Red Raiders into a national powerhouse, leading them to several College World Series appearances. His player development and aggressive style make Tech a formidable postseason opponent.
5) Jay Johnson – LSU ($1.79M)
After winning a national championship with LSU in 2023, Johnson rapidly established himself as one of the game’s top. He’s known for great recruitment and is keeping LSU’s rich legacy alive and growing.
6) Scott Forbes – North Carolina ($1.7M)
Forbes has kept UNC competitive in the ACC with good pitching and a player-centered attitude. He stepped in easily after legendary coach Mike Fox retired and has continued to elevate the Tar Heels.
7) Mike Bianco – Ole Miss ($1.63M)
Bianco finally won a national title in 2022, following decades of near misses. He is regarded as the most successful coach in Ole Miss history owing to his consistency and leadership abilities.
8) Brian O’Connor – Virginia ($1.4M)
O’Connor, a 2015 national winner and regular Omaha visitor, has established Virginia as a model of long-term success. He is well-known for his ability to develop balanced teams through smart, disciplined play.
9) Dave Van Horn – Arkansas ($1.4M)
Van Horn has Arkansas in Omaha conversations almost every year, as demonstrated by runner-up finishes in 2018 and deep CWS campaigns. He is regarded by Razorback supporters as one of the most recognized names in collegiate football.
10) Dan McDonnell – Louisville ($1.35M)
McDonnell transformed Louisville into a national powerhouse with multiple CWS appearances and ACC domination. His high-octane offense and fierce teaching approach have kept the Cardinals consistently in the top 25.

I am sure it is in his contract...and especially with O'Connor getting hired at MSU and being the 2nd highest paid coach in the SEC...He deserves a raise. And I am pretty sure he is negotiating one for his assistant (esp. Josh Jordan)

Brian O’Connor is now getting $2.9M per year from Miss State.
Jay Johnson is about to get a big raise.

How are we even asking this question. He's going to be the highest paid coach in the nation within the next couple weeks.

They should definitely do that at Alex Box North
