Man, Pixar has totally fallen off. I remember when their movies used to be events. Now…woof.

How does an animated movie have a $120M budget?

Is this a stupid question?

I took my girls to see it Thursday since I was off. It wasn't anything memorable. It was a cute, little story, but it wasn't anywhere near the top half of Pixar movies. My biggest critique is it wasnt a movie an adult could enjoy without kids. That feels like the biggest thing Pixar typically does. Also, it felt like they had 3 issues for Elio that they wanted to address and half assed all of them.

I cannot remember seeing ANY promotional material for this movie.

No surprise it's expected to tank.

That's actually cheap for a Pixar movie historically.

All that 3d animation costs money to make it look good. Ask marvel

They have hardly marketed it.

I’ve barely seen a trailer.

I’ve seen one ad for this, seems they phoned it in knowing it wouldn’t do well. As others have said, Pixar is in shambles, they haven’t had much success in a while after they used to be banger after banger

Pixar has become very unoriginal and mundane

I’ve actually seen a number of trailers for this, but it just doesn’t look any good.

This is the kind of delusion required to be a regular poster on the poli board.

Pixar's last movie made $1.7 BILLION. This guy is able to dodge that fact like Neo in the Matrix and say they haven't had much success lately.

The idiocracy is real folks. Facts are to be ignored if they dont align with your agenda.

And at least 3 people agree with him!

I honestly never heard of this movie until yesterday when my wife took our kids. They said it was fine. It was ok. And my 10 yr old daughter usually loves every animated movie we see. She even loved Wish lol

From Toy Story to Toy Story 3 Pixar was a powerhouse. That’s 15 years of dominance. I’m not sure what has happened since but it’s been a slow decline

One hit with two decent movies and a bunch of garbage

One success in the last ~10 movies, when Pixar nearly had every single movie as good as inside out 2 from their inception to 2019

Edit: and that would be fine for many theaters. But Pixar was the pinnacle of excellence in movies for almost two decades. Everything they touched turned to gold. Then something changed and they’ve turned to shite. There was a lot of woke politics in choice of stories and directors from Turning Red and on, which has likely ruined things

Theyve only put out 4 movies since covid bullshite. The 2 before covid were Toy Story 4 and the Incredibles 2 and they combined for another $2+ billion dollars. Those 2 are also in their "last 10 movies"

Incredibles 2 is their 2nd highest grossing movie ever and Toy Story 4 is their 4th highest. Inflation does factor in there but they are still highly successful even accounting for that.
