To the "do not get involved crowd" what about this scenario since you like to play what if

Say we do nothing.
And eventually Iran develops a nuclear bomb(s)
Then they decide to give it to one of their many terrorist extreme proxies to use on whoever they want/can.
Iran can say "it wasn't us" and we'd still have no supposed justification to bomb their nuclear sites because they didn't do it

It’s most likely what they would do.
The bomb would get in the hands of an extremist group like Hamas or Hezbollah and they’d detonate it in one of these Israeli cities and claim plausible deniability.
At the least they’d have the ability to try to bluff the US like North Korea does and cause all kinds of trouble for the West.

So here's the thing. There's not that many sources for nukes. There really wouldn't be plausible deniability if Hamas gets a nuke. We can with 99% certainty immediately know it's Iran....and this whole proxy thing won't shield them from retribution at that point... They know this...

Its a fair point. Nobody wants a country with a history of sponsoring terrorism to have nukes.
But I look at this with extreme caution. We have fought two very tedious wars in the name of WMDs and terrorism and accomplished very little.

Or, what if we do get involved and their sleeper cells carry out domestic terrorism here as retribution?
eta: retribution not involving a dirty bomb or other nuclear device

There would be ways for them to claim they weren’t complicit since it wasn’t directly from
them.
The UN and other sympathetic groups would most likely try and defend them against retaliation.

Why can’t Israel obliterate the entrances to the underground facility? They 100% know where they are. Make it a tomb and if images reveal they are attempting to access it again you bomb the shite out of them.
Why is the MOAB the only thing that can stop them
And if you’re scared of Nukes getting out to a proxie, are you fearful of NK, Syria, Russia, or China doing the same?
