I'm looking for recommendations on a couple of 7'3"-7'6" spinning rods for speckled trout to pair with Stradic 2500's or 3000's. They will be mostly for throwing artificial but occasional live baiting. I was looking at Shimano teremar se but I know there are alot of trout fisherman on here that can recommend better rods in the 200ish price range. I've been offshore fishing for 50 years but am getting into trout fishing more as I get older, tired of the beatings offshore. TIA

ZOOK Fishing Co. A Baton Rouge company. Really nice rods and a number of local stores carry them or you can have custom rods built to your specifications.

Falcon Coastal. Buy from Academy if you have one local and walk in and swap for a new one anytime you break one.

From Florida, moved to Avondale and then back to Florida. Good Rods though.

OP, you don't need a $200 rod to fish trout. I like Ugly Stick Carbon Elites, they about $60, super light and very durable. Caught everything from Lake Runners to Bull Drum with them.

Shimano Teramar is not a bad rod to pair with it.

I have not had good experiences with the the durability of Falcon Coastal.

The saltwater ugly sticks are tough but would not do justice to that Stradic.

Take a look at St. Croix they have some really nice rods that would pair well with the stradic. That would be my recommendation.

I don't fish with those but to your point. I stopped buying uber expensive gear years ago. In fact, I still fish with those all-star classics.

Saw the new Mojo Inshore line at Academy. Felt really good. Huge step forward from their prior inshore series

One year with receipt is what they have told me for the last 5 years.

I have been happy with the Waterloo Rods over the last year;. Both casting and spinning.

Does that include eyes? That’s what I have the most problem with on rods.

I don't target trout but I get them catching reds occasionally. I'm typically not going for bull reds so I gradually moved from Med Heavy to 7' Med/Mod or ML/Fast from St Croix. It's enough for slot reds, plenty of flex for soft trout mouths, and lighter gear is more entertaining for me anyway.

Falcon Coastal XG or Clearwater 7’ Medium are my go to setup on 2500 Shimano spinning or Curado. Have multiples on those setups…plenty of years on mine and enough backbone to land bull reds.

Recently got a Shimano Talavara cause I wanted a Med-Heavy to go with a 4000 series.

The falcon coastal clearwater and the Waterloo salinity are fine picks in this price range. I would also say to have rods specific to what you want to do, and you will enjoy it much more. Throwing a 1/8oz jig for 6 hours with a 7'6" MH spinning rod won't be much fun. Neither will free lining live croaker with 6'6" ML X-fast. I agree that some of the <$100 options work just fine, but I would much rather splurge on a couple of decent rods to improve feel in the hand along with durability. Especially for spinning rods. If you really want to splurge, a waterloo HP lite with a Shimano Vanford 2500 is a sweet combo. The stradics are great reels also, just a little heavier.

I just picked up a Miravel to replace a shitty Lews I snapped off a couple weeks ago.

I am normally a Penn Battle man for my saltwater but switched it up this time. Hope it holds up as well as the Penns.

I just bought a TFO Professional and it feels nice. Their Coastal, which retails much higher, is on sale at Sierra Trading.

I have never even been asked for a receipt. Wouldn't have it anyway. Traded a couple in that broke last summer.

Thanks for all the info from everyone, I'll have to take a look at the vanfords as well if they are lighter. Another question; what's the consensus on a 2500 vs. a 3000? The stradics are almost identical in specs for both models but the 3000 has a single ball handle instead of the standard 2 handle on the 2500. I appreciate all the info, my problem is being 350 miles from the coast it's impossible to put my hands on all the different reels and rods I'm considering.
